Q:
PVP Gear from Chests
A:
Its not the gear you get from the chests, but the mats that you get from salvaging the gear you get.
Copper chest gear gives inferior mats compared to gold chests.
I’ll edit this with the guide to sPvP gear crafting

there is “rarer” pvp gear that I would guess you have a higher chance to obtain from gold chests
So you’re saying the point of the chests is to give you gear, so that you can break it down, to craft gear?
Doesn’t that seem a little convoluted? Wouldn’t it make more sense to actually make the gear in the chests useful? Or make the chests provide crafting components to make gear?
Because in its current form I get awarded gear, which I naturally assume I’m supposed to use, only to conclude that I already have that gear.
What is it with MMOs and their overly complex PVP reward systems? SWTOR’s was atrocious too. I would have thought GW2 would have overhauled this aspect, given how great a job they handled so many other mechanics. But if what you say is true, then that’s just… dumb.
Its all for cosmetics mate
But yeah, it’s pretty over the top for better looking armor and weapons

Okay, I think I’m understanding now. So every piece of gear in PVP will always have the same stats to ensure balance, but will look different based on rank?
So those 1000 points spent on a rank 1 gold chest were poorly spent, because the items were always going to look like crap. I should save them until I’m a much higher rank, so I’m more likely to get higher tier (and so better looking) items, and if I can’t use them I can just break them down and forge something useful instead. And items from gold chests are likely to break down into better components.
That’s the gist of it?
using them on gold chests is perfectly fine, because only get a new set of chests every 10 levels (which by 10 levels you should have a ton of glory points)
If I’m not mistaken every 10th rank has 3 sets of armor and weapons.
Copper chests give you mats for the first set, silver the second and gold the third (each with a small chance of getting the other). It’s hard to wrap your head around why they would do it this way, rather then just buying gear with glory.
All ranks have balanced stats, a rank 50 is no stronger then a rank 10, but he will look alot different

Thanks =)
But presumably, if lower rank appearances don’t bother me as much, I could save all that glory up until the highest ranks, spending it all on gold chests when I get there? Instead of spending it on lower rank gear that I will only want to replace later on.
id like to mention to the guide maker that with sliver, free tournament token, ive also crafted Wizards Hat item, instead of seers/armageddon, im not sure exactly if you have chances on some even more rare set with slivers or how exactly it works.
