[PVP]Is there anything to Farm? Objectives?
There’s currently no grinding for PvP. Just click the pvp button go to the mists, pick your gear/build and go.
They’ll be adding grinding for new gear options in the future because they’ve lost all hold on reality.
If you want to use your PvE gear in a PvP setting you can try WvW but it’s mostly a zergfest.

The end game in sPvP is to get better than everyone else. Master your class and become an expert in this game’s combat.
Then you can take that skill to PvE and WvW, and suddenly everything becomes easier. And in WvW, you will be able to beat most people and sometimes win 1vX’s
Rewards are nice, but some players play PvP for the sake of PvP. It’s an aspect of many games that often doesn’t need a carrot on a stick; the reward is good gameplay, improving as a player and winning.
If everyone’s accounts we’re reset tomorrow and we all had to start from scratch, I would still come back and do PvP. I imagine a lot of the PvPers loyal to GW2 would as well and not really care that much.
How many PvE players would be ok with that though?

hmmm at the moment, i play sPvP for the sPvP daily and monthly.
besides that i also participate in the sPvP forums.
Yes, I understand your point of view. Most players do not want to “chase carrot”, and yes, just have fun. I think so too.
But I think it has to be at least somewhat of farm. Cuz this is an MMORPG. I guess theres games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Counter Strike, and those like this, which is more suitable for those who just want to KILL KILL KILL.
The point of PVP is to PVP.
If you want to farm mindlessly and hunt useless points, go PVE.

well, to be fair, team fortress 2 and counter strike global offensive both of which are team based PvP and both of these games have plenty of achievements to grind.
well you can always win games and buy mystic coffers, thats what i’ve been doing in hope of rare rewards, got some yummy stuff from it!
other than that the only thing you can grind towards is finishers every 10 ranks,
but thats not worth the time investment.
still mystic coffers are a nice little gambling hook keeping me playing atm
alot of the time you’ll get tournament rewards, but once in awhile you’ll get something really awesome like lava/frozen weapons

This is my pvp philosophy aswell.
I remember something that happened in wow that illustrates the difference in mindset quite well.
I was part of one of the top RBG guilds in eu at the start of MOP. You would think that people in a guild like that have a mindset like this.
I remember doing some random BGs on my mage one day. I had no teammates online at that moment and wow doesnt have soloqueues so i have to settle with whatever pvp is available. So i did some random BGs. A few minutes in a random guildie whispers me: “why are you doing random BGs, arent you fully geared allready?”
Some of these new people dont understand the concept of pvp just for the sake of it. They need to have set goals or else they whont play.

You farm skill.

but the gear progression also meant it was fun to play the “hotjoin” pvp with ridiculously good gear,
i used to do it to feel godly, it was hellishly fun having a 100k health Blood DK during wotlk while everyone else in the BG was sitting around 50k (with 70k being the most i’d ever see on anyone else) hp,
topping damage meters while being unkillable and running the flags, godly fun. >:-3

Im actually one of those guys that prefers an even playing field.
If you want to play wow, play wow.
This might shock you, but some guys actually play(ed) both games. Youre fine with that or?

Well some of that is a lie or a mistake on your part. Blood DK was rubbish in WotLK at BGs of all kinds, it wasnt untill cataclysm that blood became the tanking tree, in which case you could take loads of defensive stats. Not to mention no one came close to even 70k health in WotLK, again Cata brought huge health scaling as a way to combat the one shot macros that were all over Lich King content. Also, all a blood dk did was stack up vengeance to buff his power in BGs, and any player with half a brain knew how to completely lock a dk down, just dont attack him. No attacks, no vengance stacks, GG with your 2k hits.
Now the gear thing, thats the very reason why no matter how bad GW2 pvp gets, it will never be as bad as wow. You are the very type of player that a lot of pvpers hated. Going into random bgs fully decked out in raid gear, often on an arcane marge, and just blowing up greenies. Always has to have the huge gear advantage otherwise they cannot win. GW2 avoids that by giving everyone the same level and the same access to gear.

This is exactly why I love spvp in GW2.

Would like elaborate on this. There’s currently NO grinding for statistical advantage in PvP.
BUT there are tons of PvP skins you get to grind for. Just for looking epic
