How are you supposed to get the actually good looking skins in pvp? The ones that come from rank 40 onwards? You need like what, rank 80 or even more for cultural armors? That’s insane. You’d need to grind glory for 3 years straight to get that much rank.

Arenanet REALLY needs to lower either the rank requirements for the armor skins or the amount of glory required for each rank.

Well, the best looking heavy armor (at least concerning chest) is Orrian, and is a tournament one, luckily.

They would have to release new skins for the large amount of people at these ranks.

Tournament skins are fine though, and tbh none of it matters much anyway..

There are people at 70, and the games not even been out a year.

You’ll just have to accept that you won’t get 80 without serious dedication. Although I agree the gap between the armor/title tiers is too large, the whole point of the system is that 99.99% of players won’t get 80 without a few years play time. It’s not pve.

You’re better off working on your build/skills in tpvp, as people will care much more about that anyway.

The problem is that you don’t get nice gear for playing good and/or playing tournaments, you get nice looking gear for grinding hotjoins like an imbecile for years on end. That’s ridiculous and needs to be changed.

It takes a PVEer at most a week to get a complete set of endgame armor, yet pvpers need to grind for 2 years for the same? That’s the definition of a double standard.

Most of the high ranks I know don’t hot join much, I certainly haven’t. But yeah r80 isn’t end game. End game is mist league etc, which hopefully will change to an in built system at some point, y’know like leaderboards or something..

I think it was mentioned in another thread about rank; it took almost 5 years for an original Guild Wars player to reach Hero rank 12. Although there is no cosmetic reward behind it, I do get what ArenaNet is trying to do.

The rewards need to be reworked and they said they are doing that.

rank 30 is really the best I could grind to. Anything beyond that is unreasonable.

Grinding is not a healthy way to play Guild Wars 2 PvP. Hell, this is not how anyone should play ANY game!

I appreciate that I have Inquest and Orrian to show off atm but my Sylvari characters seriously need those cultural armors to look like a real sylvari instead of some plant-in-clown-costume!

It’s not PvE…Anet intended legenadaries to be a very long term goal for a player to achieve over the coarse of years. 3 months after release legendaries were being sold on Trading post. This shows a lot of the systems are functioning differently to how they are intended. The last balance patch, the disparity between ranged and heavy melee, how certain classes only excel in one way despite all professions being meant to play any role only shows a lot of the idea’s for this game have not been implemented well. It seems gw2 thought they would retain mostly the same population numbers and longevity of players in gw1, even though this game is completely different to gw2 with only skills having name sakes to the original. If I were them, I ’d start reworking rewards quickly..a players life time in this game is probably 1 year max..unlike gw1 which held a stronger population over 7 years and rewards could be worked for and all armours simply purchased. Armour skin reward is just not proving suitable.
