PVP is Ruined as of now
We’re all playing with/against noobies at the moment. Even the top pvp teams of the previous leaderboards. It won’t be until season starts will people disperse and move away from the noob pit crouds.

The match making formula does seem obscure but I would not call it a total bust. I sort of wish they would stop tampering but it was a love hate with first patch. this one is the same. Now all matches seem heavily one sided either we dominate or they do. I have not had a somewhat even match in a few weeks, they seem to enjoy sticking a highly superior team against something bad. I do understand why they do it as it is now very populated and that is good from anet prospective. the hardcores may die but the community enjoys as a whole which is what is really important since new hardcores take over.

There are no new hardcores. All i ever hear from these “new hardcores” your talking about is “Nobody takes ranked seriously” when I try to help them better understand the basics. But Screw the old hardcores right, stick with the new losers who enjoy participation trophies and pizza down the street after they get destroyed in a match. If ANET’s plans are to anger the original pvpers by forcing trolls down our throats, then they are doing a fantastic job.
Seems exactly the same to me tbh… In the old system I got matched up against people from TCG, in the new system against ppl from cheese mode.
Either way getting wrecked all the time… Fun times!
They trying to make up for it with the pvp buff you get.
Even with the +200% luck, still got all junk.
Ive seen a huge improvement in the matchup making really. Class diversity is generally way better.
Honestly its just the lack of the season right now, also the new system has to start somewhere, this is a system where its impossible for it to work perfectly from the go.
I dont understand why people are complaining like its the games fault for making them lose games, is the matchmaking supposed to make you win? because thats what I feel like everyone is crying about. Everything is always the teams fault right, and everyone is always better then the people they are losing with obviously.
The matchmaking cant do miracles.

However it could stop pitting casual pvpers like me against ppl from the pro teams. I don’t mind losing but at the same time, I’m not quite ready yet for ESL cups at rank 40… >_>

No the matchmaking is not supposed to make any1 win, but it is supposed to group like playesr together to fight like players to make a fair and even match. I have no problem losing a well fought out match. What I have a problem with is playing with 4 other players who are completely garbage and have no interest in getting better or listening to simple instructions to get a win. With this new system I don’t even have a chance to even win a scrim during the match, let alone get a win. So no I absolutely do not like getting destroyed because the players I get stuck with have no clue how to play. That is match makings fault. The previous system did this much less often then this new system has in 2 days.
No one is asking for miracles, and no one is asking for wins, we are asking for close matches, not the blowouts that happen every single match. You’re reading what we write but your not understanding any of it.

This I see alot of. I love gw2 to no end but 98% of my blocks are pvp community being downright laughable. Everyone is better then their team. always. The other team is bad. Always. But true it does seem to start off so fresh its making some wierd matchups. I think mixing solo and team was a horrible idea personally.
They really need to carry over the MMR from the soloQ/teamQ into unranked/ranked respectively. I’ve yet to have a game where I’ve faced competent players. Every game people are double capping, in roads, or simply are not great at their profession.
I’m not having fun steamrolling these new players, nor do I want them on my team. I have over 50 games since the patch, and the quality of players have not improved. Is my MMR even growing, or is it even implemented yet? Most games are hotjoin level of …. competence.
As the good players keep winning they will get ranked higher everyone is starting from from the middle. If you want to improve your odds pre make your team.

everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.
They should make it so that only players with a certain rank can join “competitive mode” like 40+. That way everyone who is just playing for the titles learns in unranked first before making an entire team lose in Ranked pvp.
Now, when they introduce the seasons there will be some much more serious competition I guess, during those.
But breaks in between, like one now, lack of it.
No serious rankings → no competition → no serious pvp esportz

it’s so hard to add rules to queues.
Seeing that it’s going on for months or maybe a year, it seems to be a hard thing to implement.
I’m not sure if its just me, or if anyone else thinks this. But the games are really fast now, and I don’t like it at the moment, maybe needs some time to get used too, but they just feel so fast, like I don’t remember whose on my team and who the other team is.
The game should have some kind of voice saying whose fighting who. Would make guilds become more noticeable and players notice other players better because they recognize the game saying the players name.
To be honest, I only know NA PvP guilds Abjured because they are going to WTS and GASM, I don’t know who Hman or Zoose or Davinci, or Darth, or Kirito plays for. It’s not that I’m not interested its more because the game doesn’t really make guilds noticeable or make them have meaning.
Theres no list of guilds with players representing them, showing overall leaderboard score and game score or how many high ranks they have or anything.
Back to topic, yes I agree, I think this matchmaking is a bust. There are some good matches but playing solo I’ve been noticing that when I lose, I lose hard most of the times.
Due to the quickness of the queing system it doesn’t really give anyone any chance to send a tell or whisper to whoever they noticed was a good player to party up with them. The que is like instant. And having it pop up multiple times is annoying.
The matchmaking system should not limit how many people ready up, it should let whoever is available to ready up and ensure the 1st match is good before starting the 2nd round of games for another group, and consider you ready for 45 seconds. After 45 seconds it should ask again if your ready. If I hit the ready button 5 seconds ago, obviously I’m ready, you don’t need to ask me the same question all over again 10 seconds later.
Also, I don’t like the new font, its terrible, you should be able to color code your name, to make it unique, it should have guild tag next to the name too, to further influence guilds by making it more known and out there and feel like your actually repping something.
If those guys NA had to change there guilds like 10 times, obviously they don’t give a kitten, its just some random thing. Guilds should have people giving a kitten. Like if people are in a top guild they should be really proud. But thing is, there really is no top guild NA. Just a bunch of random guilds folding and random guilds being created. Like Team Legends way back then, you don’t see anymore Team Legends, they all in some other random guild they made. Even before Team Legends they was called something else. I had no clue what guild any of those phantaram ostrich eggs chaith was in before I watched twitch stream and saw, oh they in some guild called abjured, never heard of that guild until the NA qualifiers.
The developer team needs to start working and making guilds more noticeable and more meaningful. Like the ideas I mentioned earlier and also they could add stuff like +10% more money from pvp, +50% more magic find from pvp, +15% more reward track progress, +10% chance to earn additional chest, have your guild be presented in a fashionable way at start of match, have announcer announce you guild, so much you can do.
And make it unique from the current guild tab, make it be based off games won by your guild. Have to win 10 games with your guild before you can choose which option you’d like to activate for x hours. Make it so you have to actually pvp to get pvp guild benefits. I say make it off games won because being based off leaderboards can be abused by those players not playing and sitting at the top. If they are truly good players they have nothing to fear from having to play more than there usual to get rewards, just like everybody else. More people you have in your guild, more guild games being won, faster you can activate the rewards. Incentive is to get more people into guild, and not just some 5 man preppy team reaping all the benefits. Sure that preppy team can win 10 games easily, but if they just have 1 team going at it, its a lot slower than a good sized pvp guild having multiple teams winning games.
