I used to run the Academy Gaming tournaments for GW2.
Does not really matter if 1 bracket is better then the other, in fact I’d say the team with the tougher road has a better chance. But in the end 1 team goes who cares if you make the semi finals in a weak bracket or the quarters in another you don’t win.
Tournament Organizer said in twitch chat that Two Teams were no shows in Round 1!
Frozen Throners [LeeT] and Kuroko NO Basuke both teams bailed out and took spots other teams could have used! So Really Nice Guys got a bye in round 2!
Props to anyone who participated today! Will there be a way to watch the matches for those of us who couldn’t make the time of the stream? Pretty please!
I am not sure why some feel the need to criticize any of these teams. If you can do better, form a team, and sign up for the next tourny. Calling people newbs is just bad style.

Yeah, today’s matches were mostly lopsided and I don’t think I saw too many close matches in the 400-500 range. Hoping tomorrow’s will be more exciting.

@Authority No hate for AL, its just they had really easy games and because of it, it makes them look like they got a freebee to the finals.
The people at the bottom brackets are actually going though some competition, so people are going to be cheering for them.
Not AL fault it was bad matchmaking by anet. Also everybody roots for the underdogs. You saw people rooting for DUKE there 2nd game. People just love AL but it a love to hate relationship, they love seeing AL so they can hate on them.

I don’t know enough about the NA scene to have a view on whether it was a deliberate fixed easy ride for AL, but if it is genuinely not their fault there is absolutely no reason to disrespect them like that cause there is no ground of accuse or basis.
Its like you expect them to come out and apologize for being bracketed just because it looks bad on them. RNG and Goon from what I saw gave a respectable fight.
Anyway, at the end of the day everything will be settled tomorrow.
Call me biased, but I think a lot of people saying the 2nd day’s bracket is “stacked” are a little biased too.
I think some of you are overestimating certain teams, while underestimating some other teams. But that’s just me, I guess we’ll see!
I think this brings in a bigger issue of a lack of a way to really rank teams. I think every NA tournament there are people complaining that the brackets are “unbalanced and rigged.” It’s kind of getting old.
Cause I ain’t perfect, I never said I was.

I find it interesting how uncompetitive the “series” are, I don’t know if the matches are 1 sided or not but only series in the entire tourney so far has had the losing team win a match.
All of you guys need to stop hating on low ranks in PvP, because all yall say rank don’t matter it don’t matter.

me personally, rank really does matter
1 more thing, those shoutcasters press b too fast… When the match is over leave the scoreboard on, I don’t want to stop the stream just to see the score and ranks.
They should rotate maps as first map is always .. for example Khylo and then loser team can pick which map to play. Its bit boring to see always same maps specially because in NA games always end 2-0.
