People are getting bored
It is already known that pvp is not as popular as farming EotM / Live Story already.
PvP is not considered that high end, or competative as showing off your new backpiece.
New players are scared away by experienced players, and experienced players are scared away by unbalanced teams / leavers.
Besides that, /rank was used in GW1 to show off your experience in HA. Now its implemented in GW2, it was a way to show your ammount of time put into SPvP. But the way it can be farmed is making it invaluable. And at a certain point, Anet started introducing Finishers in the gemstory. Which decreased the value of your rank finisher to the bottom.
Gear in WvW opens a way to spike down other players unlike spvp. So entering pvp from wvw makes you feel weak. And the way you have to take points and can be decapped by gimmicky builds used by most experienced pvp players, really demotivates every one.
I’d rather roam WvW as its not required to take points and play with complete noobs. You get exciting (but unbalanced) fights. And the reason I’m playing this game is: Fun.
I will no longer discount or try to supply reason. When BG cops out, bad things are coming…
not to mention all of the “cloak and dagger” BS that the devs are doing doesn’t help.
ANET, open your eyes.
your community is leaving, enough of the vague hints and teases,
its not causing anticipation, its causing frustration and a dying community.
the time for transparency is now, tell us what we have coming,
give us some hope, some reason to stick around,
a reason not to move to more committed MMOs.
GW1’s pvp was still great 6 years after release,
what the hell happened to you Anet?
It’s fine, internally this is there strategy. They made a decision to let the few remaining dedicated players leave, instead of trying to appease them. They will then make a “big” push to attract new players to pvp. This allows them time to start the process all over.

That might actually be the plan. I think anet has accepted that the hardcore pvper from launch are never trying going to be happy or return, so you might as well focus on the ones that have no bias or angry at them. It might be easier to make new PPL happy than make old ones happy/return to the game.
This new update might be sort of a reboot.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
I count 4 people in the BG pvp lobby……thats a bad sign.
is it?
I pvp every day but I don’t go into the lobby more than once every few weeks to change up some gear.

No need to look at the lobby. Just look at the hotjoin server populations. When you have 3 to 4 full servers and others with 3 or 4 then the general population is dwindling. Now, when you add that to the already lengthy solo queue and team queue times, it’s easy to see there are very few people playing in spvp. Allie will give you a different response and say the “pvp” population is growing, but she includes the wvw players in those totals.

lol at the update being a reboot. It won’t be anything of the sort because it will be flawed. My evidence for this is previous update.
For example, previous experience teaches us the following is likely to happen:
1, Balance changes will make the game more gimmicky/power creeped/spammy/skill-less. This has happened every patch for about 10 months. Arenanet are incapable of understanding what power creep means – which means they probably aren’t gamers themselves. They don’t understand how power creep can just kill a game on its own as it has killed GW2 PvP. Notice the sigils changes all point towards more power creep. (4 on swap sigils on warrior lolz)
2, Feature changes will be half-finished. Look at things like solo q (where unbalanced matches were common due to the system). Look at things like custom arenas which offer no customization really. Look at the amount of bugs in the new maps they release and in the old ones which take 2 years to fix (legacy door bug). New game modes will be the same. They will be buggy and flawed. And they will be implemented in a half hearted way – by this I mean they will probably be hot-join only. Hot-join is a disaster so I doubt this will do anything for pvpers.
Thus, there will be no “reboot” as you put it. There will just be more of the same. And the 5th “big” patch will just be more of the same. Features which aren’t finished (and are therefore pointless) and balance which is just more spammy power-creep.

[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
Of course people are going to get bored. One game mode with a very stale meta, also throw in the fact there are no incentives to get a team together to compete.
Heavens Rage

It took gw1 pvp many years to die . gw2 pvp died in less than a year
GW1 PvP: HA >GVG>TA >RA > HB,>all that luxon kurzick kitten
GW2 PvP: we get kittening skyhammer.
The title is wrong.
It should be more like “people who started to pvp ~ 1 month ago are getting bored, everybody else already is”.
the fotm rerollers are killing the game and Anet doesnt do anything about it
the fotm rerollers are killing the game and Anet doesnt do anything about it
Why should anet do something about people actually using a pvp build
It take max 2 minutes to reroll in this game there is no reason why you would use a build where you lose every time.
