Lieutenant Stabs – Thief
Night Vision (NV) – Blackgate
Yes it sucks having to pve for gold and the ca prices are too much ATM. The thing is though pvp has no other way for anet to make money. Since its not a subscription based game no people buying gems = no development money. You wonder why pve gets way more attention but as soon as anet makes a way they can get money you complain…..
Though I will admit the price should be more like $20-30 per month for custom arenas
There’s no kittenstorm on the fact that you have to pay for them but on the price model (which isn’t confirmed at all).
the fact is in pve you can farm golds and then exchange golds for gems. so basically you can buy gems just by playing the game. in pvp you can’t earn gems (not anymore, at least) so you’ll have to buy them for real money.
Kultas is right here. Unless they give us a way tonearn gems or gold in PvP it’s price is not tolerable.
As some other poster once put it, the pve of GW2 was made with competition in mind, but the pvp simply was not.
So arena.net needs to invest serious amounts of development hours into pvp, make everything for free and wish very very hard that the game becomes way more popular so they make money (and this will happen with a mmo that started it’s downfall already and with a part of that mmo played by maybe 10% of the players, or less).

TBH there are two options:
1) Invest in future success and have a chance of a cashback if the game is successful
2) Decide to stop investments and cash in the cow (unfortunately the cow turns out to be a poor dog afterall – and there isn’t really something to cash in)
So it’s basically translates into the two following statements:
1) Invest in future success and have a chance of a cashback if the game is successful (yes it is the same as above :-))
2) Beeing fine with the total sales of the game (and therefore only get tiny bits of more money with Stupid Gem Ideas that are easy to put in)
2 means no more money for ANET (or just a little) – I’d go for 1 even if it’s a risk
Custom Arenas that you have to pay for will ultimately be a giant flop. Mark my words.
do pvp-> craft dyes -> rng abyss&co. -> ???? -> profit
ebery fps around afaik has server sellers. u pay to play and you can’t earn money playing. so what’s the problem?

If it fails, it simply proves that they were right not to invest too much into it. If they can’t monetize it, then really there is no point focusing resources on it.
