People leaving matches
The balance is at such tragic level that no wonders people leave after facing all those FotM rerollers.
On to of that, it is almost impossible to carry a team in sPvP. You just need that extra buddy to spam attacks everywhere, preferably AoE. Even a guy who installed the game last week is a valuable team member.

Its ruining it for both the winning and the losing team.
When you are ahead a little bit in points, than its not fun to win, when the enemy team has 1 or 2 players less.
A few changes could fix things.
-A game is opened.
You can join red or blue.
A game will only start if both sides have an equal amount of people.
-If the game has started, than you can still join the game. However you will only be put in a team if there is someone else waiting to join on the enemy team as well.
If there is none, than you will be put in wait until there is, so that the teams maintain an equal number of players.
-If you leave a match before it is finished, than you will get a debuff.
You wont be able to join a new game or a dungeon for x minutes (20?) for example.
This to help prevent people from leaving games.
-You can only swap to the enemy team if the enemy team is losing and if that would make the teams get an more even number of players.
-Maybe add a small extra reward for people who join a team that is behind.
Call it turning the tide or something like that.
Would this help? What do you think of this?

You can’t make such player swaps in tournaments. If you want to do this, then play hotjoin.

To avoid cofusion, if you mean me, I wasnt talking about tournaments.
It is just terrible, today I decided I’ll stop solo queueing to ranked since out of six games in five I had a leaver in my team. They left right in the beginning or a minute after the start. And in the only game what was 5v5 MMR blessed my team with 4 guards and enemy team with 3 D/D eles. I got so kitten kittened.
And why players leave games?
I sent a about 10 emails to devs , with dates of games i had ,like in 10 games i got just pugs vs 4 and 5 premades team, never got a reply.
how is this fun when u play vs premades game after game, then u get so bad team comps like double thievs and ranger vs double dd eles and such, then next game u get double cappers and players with 0 clue about pvp.
how do u expect players feel after suchs games?
Macth making is poor in my opinion, balance is poor, pacthes are so so poor once a year and always come with so many bugs.
Ofc players leave games , its not so bad if u just play 3 or 4 games a day, but if u r like me (trust me i do play more than a few games a day) then u will also leave games.
I blame anet for this really.

You can’t leave unraked/ranked matches, you can only exit the game, if you try to swap characters and re log it will place you back in the current match if it’s still going.
It’s really not that big of an issue and people do legit get d/c often.
I exclusively only solo q ranked on a daily basis on NA and hardly ever run into large amounts of people exiting the game. I run into a few random d/c every now and then but that’s it.
Hotjoin is the only game mode where you can just leave and hop into other matches.

Add to that the “courtyard” map. Its my map of choice for intentional tanking (to get my MMR lower) and AFKing. Only time I actually play it is when I need the daily win, otherwise forget it.

Well what ever the reason is you join in mm pvp knowing full well you may be up against something you wont like and that leaves no excuse to leave. They need to add a system like they got in dota where if you leave matches you get put in the punishment queue
Anet has let bad sports ruin the game.
In hotjoin, you have a core group of pseudo “heroes” who team stack, quit/spectate, team swap to steamroll new players to make themselves feel better than they really are.
In ranked/unranked, you just have fails who quit at the first sign of adversity.
That being said…neglecting to balance eles and ridiculousness of having to play against builds like PU Mesmers has made the game less fun for everyone…even the ones who stay and play the full game.
ArenaNet removed the possibility of 4v5 (or worse) in their December 2014 patch. Oh nevermind, they just made us all wait idling in HotM for 8 minutes between every pvp match. And dishonor was also removed at that time.
Now we are being sold a half-baked version of what we used to have, as content for the expansion. kitten.

I have never left a match but I see why people do it. Matchmaking is a fuggin joke. No Solo Q, no MMR, no nothing. I can count on one hand the matches i’ve had that ended better than 400-500. The rest are 500 to 150 solo q pugs vs premades. Had 3 matches in a row today of pug vs premades.
Other than doing 1 a day for my daily i’m absolutely done with PVP and people can say “oh qq we won’t miss you”. Well guess what? I am not the only person that feels this way and every day that the pvp pop goes down, the crappier pvp is going to get.
I just hot join. Lucky sometimes if only down by one. I’ll join the losing team or whatever. Eventually I’ll be on the stomping side.
Recently got two ascended drops despite the fact I was on the losing side. I just do my best no matter the odds.
I don’t leave matches because I would feel I’d abandoned my team. That’s not something I’m willing to do.
I’ve considered it though. There have been quite a few 100-500 matches lately.

But going ‘This is Sparta’ when you got a couple of players playing with their kitten
in your team,becomes pointless after a few matches.
I’m no pro,but I know the basics and I can’t play with players that have no clue about
the game in my team.
I wish there was another advanced ranked mode where you could only join if you had
at least 200 ranked wins with your class.

when they nerf mesmers and elementalists, me as a ranger will stop leaving matches. Untill then, no matter what happens i will perma leave couse why should i keep playing an unbalanced matchup?^

The dishonour system is coming back with PvP leagues. This should help some. But then the people who deliberately leave will just afk (usually at home base) instead. Hopefully they will introduce an anti-afk mechanism as well.
I do hope so. The community is so toxic atm, and leavers and afking ppl everywhere.

Well, ppl like you should be banned from PvP. Just don’t join the game, or lern to play.

Indeed. I totaly agree. If you cannot handle those classes, you are to weak. If you just quit, you are the worst teammate one can have and you should not be allowed to play.
