I was under the impression that going afk, rage quitting, or throwing matches on purpose would be a punishable/bannable offense, but I still see people doing it all the time. I believe that by making an example of the worst or most flagrant offenders, Anet could send a message to the rest of the sPvP community that this behavior is not ok.

Anyone else frustrated by all the quitters who give up when the other team takes the lead?

Can any staff members comment on this?

What are you saying, isn’t rage quitting practically a sacred tradition in MMOs?

I had the same MMR tanking Mesmer over two days get on my team.

They would afk in base and spam Chinese/Korean symbols (idk) when confronted about being a tanker. (Yet were in an English guild and had an English name)

Had everyone report them and they still aren’t banned/suspended.

I am also beyond frustrated with this. Don’t know if anything is truly being done about it either. In the last two days I’ve come across several people that have thrown the match, even to the point of admitting it and laughing about it. One player, whom I was thrown into multiple games with, would load in and immediatly offer to throw the match if the opposing team would send him/her gold.

I’ve not seen this once in my 50 matches over the last week, it can’t be that prevelant. What division is this happening at? It certainly isn’t in Amber and Emereld.

EU ESL Pro GW2 player Leeto was doing it on his Twitch feed the other day. Cursing the game whle drinking a lot of beer…. Don’t think he’s banned and it would be a double standard to treat players any differently. If you get kicked for going AFK or rage quit you will suffer the usual dishonor penality but I don’t think you’ll get hit with anything else. Sometimes dishonor is worth taking… As I’ve said before, I think the dishonor is on the game itself and not the players at this point.

I just made it to diamond today, but for me, it usually happens about 1 out of every 5 or 10 matches on average, regardless of division. I’m not even that worried about losing pips anymore. I don’t want to see these players in a match; it’s a waste of my time and it is extremely frustrating for the players on both teams that have to finish out a match that has already been decided. And just because things weren’t going the way one player wanted and they decide to throw a fit.

The main reason that I’m posting this is that Anet said they would be punishing, and possibly banning, flagrant offenders. I usually give ppl the benefit of the doubt if they d/c, but I have seen several people in the last week announce on mapchat that they are going to afk at spawn before doing just that.

In such cases, I don’t see how there can be any confusion as to their intentions, and would like to see such people banned or at least be temporarily suspended from ranked sPvP. Even when I’m on the opposing team, I can’t stand people who do this because it takes all the fun and satisfaction out of a win.

Please Anet, follow through on your promise and get rid of these toxic players.

Needing to put conscientious effort into losing when the matchmaking system will do that for you anyway even with natural, intended gameplay lol!

I mean look at all the people posting their losing streaks, if you intend to get a streak like that and are upset about it you clearly don’t want to lose that much.

Once you get to Ruby, the rage afk players become more intense.

The reason is, too many teen nerds with raging hormones play this game. No matter what Anet does it will still remain the same.

Every MMO has this problem.
