Thief needs to get cd’s on their mobility skills which is also vault.
Even though the thief finished that fight with less than 2,000 hp?
Think hard now.
To be fair, the Thief entered the fight around 10k health (not full), and put the Mesmer into downed-state at 6k health. Sometimes in a fight, I’ll take the most damage when just trying to stomp. It was only close sometimes, maybe, because the Thief came in 7k health under its starting health.
I will say, as a Necromancer, it can be mighty irritating trying to hit a dodge-y Thief. Fought a Shortbow/Staff DD in WvW the other day, and the fight probably lasted 5 minutes or more. The Thief reset at one point (because resetting fights in roaming WvW as a Thief is easy, but I consider it a personal fight won), and the Thief downed me during the second bout after I slipped up on my LF control (and he switched around a utility, it looked like). The volume of dodges is intimidating.
But if you dodge the Vaults, and the Unload, it’s amusing when a DD spams Vault. After they’re done with a burst of Vaults, they don’t really do anything. They just hope it gets the kill, and if it doesn’t, it better be an actually good Thief who knows how to take the fight from there, lest they just die terribly.
I don’t really think the evasion-spam is broken in its current form, personally. Frustrating? Yes. But far less frustrating that Stealth spam, imo. At least you see an animation and can feel out the Thief’s style. It was also probably frustrating for that Thief in WvW to have such a difficult time killing me, because he couldn’t ever stay close to finish the deal without getting caned.
Most classes have frustrations. Try learning to deal with them.
Except Stealth spam. Let’s get that removed from the game, please. Thanks.
EDIT – I get that the Mesmer didn’t play perfectly. It’s wondrous how many mistakes we catch watching a fight on replay, or while we aren’t actively in it. Active mitigation spam is real these days though, and these sorts of complaints aren’t going to go away with a “but it isn’t even good in top-tier play that most people don’t even experience!”. They probably won’t go away period, but there are plenty of reasons why this isn’t really all that bad.

Thieves are so desperate to protect a broken class mechanic
that regard everyone in this match as bad players. Here is condi version example:
https://youtu.be/qbZwzep673oI bet thieves will say these people are bad players also.
yeah. That warrior -is- bad.
Learn to land skills after the evade frames and all of your problems with this spec will be gone.
I think thieves are in a bad spot right now and I wouldn’t suggest a nerf, but how can Anet watch footage like this and think, hey this looks like fun; lets create a class that either evades all damage or gets instantly nuked if they ever stop jumping all over the screen.
Cuz reasons?
