Personal score shown, rank hidden
because we need it in case of 500-500…
because we need it in case of 500-500…
LOL, and this is another STUPID THING.
Why we have to consider like tie break a stupid personal score when it mean nothing? (The team with the player with max scoreboard wins)
It’s so hard to implement those ideas like better tie break?
1) At the end of the game, if it’s a draw, the team that hold more capture points win;
2) At the end of the game, if it’s a draw and the teams have the same number of capture points let’s go to 550 points to win. The first team that get this will win.
3) 550 – 550? Look at number 1.
Because PvP has some of the most rude and spiteful people in the entire game. Not showing ranks it just removing a reason for them to blame the new guy for their inadequacies. The problem is their is no shortage of reason for a kitten individual who is looking to blame someone and insult them so themselves can feel better.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
They removed ranks, they could remove visible score, but people would still find things to flame and shout about.
To be honest, rank is much more meaningful than personal score. In fact, if a person has a very high personal score in a match, I would be deeply suspicious about their contribution to the team. Unless they did some awesome trebbing etc.
Also, +1 to equalizing the rewards for team and solo q. It’s the only reason why I solo in team q. Which is kind of a crazy system.
rank removal makes sense if dev wanted to hide under the rag poor matchmaking.
score removal on the top of rank would make sense if they wanted actually better matchmaking.
so…

What are you talking about? When I do pve dungeons, people harass me because I only have 3000 AP and only have one weapon set equipped. I also like to stand in the fire and ignore the direction they give me…but you’re right REMOVE ACHIEVEMENT POINTS!

Might be the case, but like others stated you find this kind of behaviour in more efficiency minded PvE environments as well.
My major complaint isn’t about them removing the ranks, it’s rather that they did this but left the personal score untouched. It’s obvious they thought about how to improve player behaviour by changing the scoreboard and no one came up with the idea to improve TEAMplay by getting rid of INDIVIDUAL scores? Kitten kitten : | (I actually wrote kitten)
If there’s going to be any ’personal score’, it should be a simple list of kills, assists, decaps, captures. Maybe secondary objectives, too?
Even then, folks would likely zerg about trying to get top kills or most caps or whatever.
There needs to be some indication of participation, sure, but the current implementation sure isn’kitten
Personal score generally teaches poor behavior. and tactics. “Oh capping/killing gives me so much! I better run off point to cap more and kill people off point so I can be the best.”
The problem begins when noobs notice their personal score more than the actual score. It’d be better to remove personal score and leave ranks in, people attribute experience with ability and listen/learn when they know the person scolding them is better at the game. When you tell noobs to stop going far or defend the point they’re on, they’re more learn from mistakes at the end of matches when they see the ranks. Right now, lots of new players respond with contempt when told to stop messing up. Of course, Anet could just remove both which isn’t a bad idea either.
Please show ranks again
Hiding ranks is like making a bunch of guys in a room wear pants.
When the junk is covered, all is equal.
