I could certainly relate to this issue. About 7 3/4 years ago, our guild in GW1 played a sorta the petting zoo build. Easy to run, effective, can get you fame and ladder rank as well. The scenario now and before is not that different. You see people losing to the petting zoo build complaining in the forums, asking for nerfs, just how the balanced runners in tombs in the past complained about iway and asking for it to be nerfed.

So it feels like deja vu for me since i got to rank 300ish in the ladder only running my slightly modified petting zoo according to my liking.

Just like IWAY can be defeated using the appropriate build by skilled people, the petting zoo build can be beat too. I’ve been beaten by multiple classes because i was outplayed. prolly im not pro in petting zooing but you get the point. We’ve seen how CC beat the team with the most petting Zoos SYNC. if petting zoo is OP, then CC should’ve lost guys right?

But there is an issue that may arise. Should we always play the hard counter classes such as warriors? Well, traditionally warriors don’t belong in tPvP. but thanks to petting zoo, they are getting their time again. So this is the dream that most of the warrior runners are longing for. For if warriors will always defeat spirit rangers, they will be superseded. and warriors will reign supreme, until the arrival of a hard counter class vs warriors.

What’s my point? It’s just a phase. Knee jerk reaction nerfs should not happen and let the meta evolve by itself. Prolly someone is concocting their next cheesy build. I’ve seen weird builds already in Soloqueue like a ranger with an Axe offhand whirling my spirits away and bunkering the point at the same time. I even died to it twice i think. I expect more experimental stuffs from people too and hoping to see them in soloqueue.

That’s all. I’m a witness to the destruction of build variety in GW1 because of nerfing. I hope it wont happen in this game. lol.

I don’t think anything should get nerfed right now.

Non-Standard traits/builds should get buffed to be on par with the current meta’s builds.

The problem with petting zooway, as well as was the case with IWAY, is that it promotes passive play and is as successful, and sometimes even more so, as someone who chooses to play a more active play-style. Hard counters like, “Well just bring a warrior,” are a ridiculous way to answer the problem. No one wants to play rock paper scissors, and that will only serve to limit the game variety and team composition even further.

Petting zooway is terrible and needs to be extinct. Pressing your 1 button to auto win and not worrying about dodging because you have protection for days is not good game design.

Ideally, spirits need to be used, and designed in such a way, to promote tactful play in order to establish some type of positioning advantage. You don’t get that with what we have now. Try again A-net.

Ironically, these types of builds are the easiest to fight against as well. People just haven’t learned the meta yet. I don’t even have a ranger or necro, but I sure enjoy fighting them. Easy win.

The thing about that is that warriors are now fine anyway, just especially strong against condi classes, so you’re not actually overreacting by bringing a warrior. You’ll do fine until you start running into ele+mes in the same team again. Even then you’re probably fine unless you’re running double warriors or something crazy.

Plus, you might not want to play rockpaperscissors, but no one wants to play rockrockrock.

If you’re not playing to win, don’t complain when you lose.

Ranger:

All spirits can now be launched, knocked down, and knocked back.
Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, Stone Spirit, and Spirit of Nature will now begin their recharge when the spirit dies instead of when the spirit is summoned.
Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, and Stone Spirit: Recharge has been reduced from 60 seconds to 25 seconds.
Spirit of Nature: Recharge has been reduced from 240 seconds to 180 seconds.
Solar Flare: Fixed a bug so this skill no longer applies a duplicate infinite duration blind.
