I consider myself mid-tier. Not trash, but not “great.”

My matches tonight have been terrible.
-People dying 2v1.
-People suicide into 1v3s
-Pugs vs premades.
-People getting insta-downed as soon as they enter the team fight.

Is there a reason why my matchmaking is suddenly so terrible? I mean look at the scores on some of these. What is this?

Edit: Well I made it to 10 losses in a row now. Ended with a bang. Myself and random pugs vs well known players. Time to log out for the night. I must have suddenly became the worse player in the game.

I’m no expert, but there’s been quite a few posts recently on this problem. I myself fit into your category and have had the same problem recently. Not really sure what to say about it really – logging off after that kind of bang seems most fitting tho! lol.

It’s been this way for me too. idk why i keep getting thrown into games where 2 teammates would jsut ignor the caps , people fighting first guy they come across, 3vs and still all losing. I think ive gone about 9 losses straight as of now . im just gonna stand on caps now and spam one and take the losing track progress.

I am just a middle rank (r39) player with a total of 272 matches on my main account. I always solo queue. I have never queued as part of a team. I do mostly unranked. Win rate is 52.21 % which I consider is fair, because I have also had bad luck, e.g. getting disconnect myself, being called by family or having team members who disconnect, quit before even the match starts to or just stand AFK (making it 3-4 vs 5 enemies). Another common reason for loss is to get a bad team composition e.g. almost none in the team can hold a point e.g. two thieves + 1 pewpew ranger + 1 shatter mesmer in same team. Of course I have also done many mistakes, which have contributed to losing the game.

I have had in recent days had the opposite experience. 9 wins in past 11 games (the screen capture shows only 10 last games, but I remember the 11th game was also a win by large margin). Wins have been mostly easy and losses have been very narrow (499-500 and 414-501). I don’t know about the ranks of the enemies, but most of them don’t seem to be higher than marauder rank, ransacker title is common against enemy players. and I just got ransacker myself. I guess some might be very low rank, because they tend to zerg rush things instead of rotating well.

I play my own suboptimal builds. Engi, my main, uses medkit, unusual choice for amulet, runes. I use almost the same build in WvWvW, which gives me a lot of experience playing it as WvWvW is my main mode. Having 2500+ hours experience using the same build gives more advantage than playing the so called best build.

Long time ago when my rank was very low, just r10-15, I remember often seeing dragon and phoenix finishers in my enemy team, implying that they were r70-80. I felt they were clearly better than my own skill level as I was still learning the map mechanics. I don’t understand why the game was matching so high ranked players vs beginners unless the player pool was really really small.

I haven’t that often met full premade teams lately. but it seems it is common to get 2-3 same guild tags both on my own team and/or the opposite teams. Even full premade can be beaten with PuGs as some of them play really bad and lose almost every single 1-vs 1 fight at far (causing big problems for their entire team).

So for me the match making is working better.

You should try ranked if you can. I find that ranked usually gives better matchmaking than unranked. When i queue unranked, I just feel like it matches up based on the amount of people in your party not the skill of the players. When i queue ranked, i usually see pretty even skill spread across both teams considering i know most of the players that i queue with/against in ranked and what i kind of rate them in my head.

I made the mistake of getting back on and trying again. I’m around ~15 losses in a row now.

Last matched featured a signet guardian who didn’t win a single fight. Just kept running to far and dying. I had some D/D and P/P thieves. A spirit weapon guardian. A team 4v1’ing a mesmer on home for ~5 minutes.

This has to be some form of punishment.

Its been the same for me this past 2 days, 10 matches lost in a row.

I’m not high rank (Rank 38) but I would expect at least to see players that know the basics of the game by this point, seeing people just fighting in the middle of nowhere for the entire match makes me so mad..
I main Thief and when I try to help on the group fights (3v3 or 4v4) I’m always the last one to die, I just can’t understand how people on my Team dies that easy.. well I kinda do, they stand in the middle of the AoEs and don’t even move when they fight.. but yeah.. I can’t even try to decap, because most of the time at least 2 of the people on my Team are dead, and the other Team can easily afford sending someone to a contested cap and kill me.

That and the fact that 4 of the 5 people on the other Teams has Dragon Finishers implying they have way more experience that the people on our Team (at least me, and the ones that don’t even know how to play).

I’m going crazy right now with the current state of MMR, I’m hoping this will be addressed soon as I don’t even want to play PvP anymore (it’s no fun if you know you’ll loose almost every match), at least we are getting HoT now so I’ll have something to do.

What tool are you guys using to observe match history?

The matchmaking has gotten unbearable. 5 one-sided losses in a row because of people playing for the first time. It doesn’t matter what you do when people run in to far and suicide over and over again.

This is not fun at all.

Just use the chat function in the mists, say something like “lfg 4 pvp” and watch as someone invites you in like a min or two.

A LOT of people do this, and if you don’t you will get rekt by those guys who do, it’s a team game so form a team or you will have a hard time.

You can also then ask the guys to vote for the same map, discuss tactics before the match and so on, why not do it, it’s a mmo not a singleplayer game after all
