Instead of any normal Joe winning their first 12 games resulting in the Leaderboards placing him as top NA player rating of 2100+, how about, let’s not instead.

We see top tiers placing well, then gradually getting lower in ratings as games played increases. Anet knows why, as they’ve stated that the more games you play the greater the accuracy of mmr/ratings are.

So why the heck does a 10 game “Placement” system have so much emphasis on actual rating rather than the long haul? Players who automatically placed in Legendary or Platinum don’t have to grind any more than they have to… they can even wait a few days, have decay hit, then win (or lose) and it’ll always yield a positive rating. I was forced to grind through the Silver division to my normal Platinum rating… why shouldn’t everyone do that? It should be a fair system, not some “luck” streak.. or some unlucky “dc’d player” losing streak.

We needed Season 5 in Season 1, gj on improving that aspect but moving forward.. The answer is pretty obvious. Please address it in Season 6.

You could place one of the top 50 slots, let yourself decay to -700 for the entire season and just remove it at the end and easily stay in the top 100.

T1 plat should be a hard cap for placement. Anything higher should be earned by winning.

However this is a problem for 2 reasons, the first being a 50/50 win rate which would indicate youre where you below will move you down. The second is that they try to say this is a bell curve system but that’s not true. If you were to plot the players placings it becomes an exp curve that regresses towards legendary. If I were that bellmaker id expect to be fired.

The leaderboard is a joke. Quite funny. #1 player at one point had 9 wins and 0 loses. People below had similar stats. Gg?

Yesterday when I looked #1 and 2 were both 11-0 accounts.

I mean, in theory, couldn’t a player just wait until the very end of the season, and then play his 10 placement matches, get the #1 spot and just sit there since there wouldn’t be enough time left in the season for decay to hit him? I wonder if Anet has considered this…

well i got placed into silver for some reason and after 100 games i climbed to legend

cant really complain about my time in silver/gold though, made some fun stomps there and got easy progress for pip reward track

That’s the way it worked for me and the way it should work. Rather than people jumping into the top slots.

Actually If you que with someone below you in duo que it seems to punish losing more harshly. I duod with a guy 2 tiers below me today, and over 10 games at a 100% rate losses were -21 and wins +6. Soloq’d after that and received my normal +15/win -12 loss.

Actually If you que with someone below you in duo que it seems to punish losing more harshly. I duod with a guy 2 tiers below me today, and over 10 games at a 100% rate losses were -21 and wins +6. Soloq’d after that and received my normal +15/win -12 loss.

Hopefully that’s the way it works. I would like it to take it a step further and acknowledge the advantage it gives even when evenly paired and account for it.
