Placement matches have too much value
NA doesn’t count. Seriously, I rolled on NA during the last solo queue era and was shocked how bad the standard was. There are a few good players there no doubt. But in general its woeful. I would estimate that 100th best player on NA isn’t in the top 1000 on the EU.
So NA leaderboards are an irrelevance anyway.

That’s inconceivable!
NA Players are very smart and capable of creative thinking on levels not seen anywhere else in the world. This needs to be fixed, or soon everyone will learn how to make the 10-0 top five placement happen.
EU players aren’t creative enough to figure out how to game the system. That doesn’t mean it should not be addressed.

All I’m seeing here is your own metrics. Now to claim outrageous metrics like that you need something to back it up.
ANet… I get the need for placement matches having value. But they have too much value. We’re mid-season now and this is still happening.
Remember that there was a soft reset, not a hard reset. We do not know the ratings those players had before the reset. If those are brand new accounts, sure, there’d be a problem if going 10-0 shot them to the top of the leaderboards. On the other hand, if those were 2400, 2600 MMR accounts before the soft reset, a 14-0 run to start the season would place them pretty highly even with pretty modest changes in rating during placements.

Regardless of this being true or not placement matches should not put someone on the top of the entire leader board. Surely you can agree with that?
And the chances they stay at the top with the decay are very low.
What’s really going to happen is the final day of the season will see the rise of a ton of 10-0 accounts taking all the top spots lol.

The soft reset should probably include some amount of clamping to prevent issues like this. Still hard to solve. Seasons are really short given the volatility of a team game.
Gonna make some people mad here, but I’ve played games with these smurfs and they’re earning their wins. Just yesterday we had a game go 450-500 in their favor that was fairly close until the very end. It doesn’t say anything about NA versus EU except for the fact that EU has more high-rated players, who would be able to give smurf accounts a hard time.
These players are playing during NA primetime, and I don’t think they are “gaming the system”. If you want to do something about it, get to a rating where you can play against them and find them in 3 days when they play to remove decay again. People that can’t make it out of Silver, let alone into the top 250 really have no reason to be complaining. Play the game to have fun, improve, and to have good matches.
Sure, it might be a bit unfair to players who actually deserve to take those leaderboard spots, but it doesn’t pertain to you. Notice how the only people that complain about this stuff are people that use it as an excuse that they’re rated “lower than they should be”?

Its not a question of skill its more of why have a season to determine the top250 when you can make an alt account play for a day and be in the top 250. Still the rewards are only a title nothing to valuable. These smurf accounts defeats the propose of determining the top 250 per season, if someone with 10game played can get a title. The season is not over but it troubling.

Exceeeeeeeeeeept… the leaderboards are supposed to be a representation of skill. When players play the minimum number of games, they’re demonstrating a margin of error, not skill.
