Placement matches vs normal matches quality
Placement matches are a joke. Let me tell you why. There are a lot of players who have never played PVP before, or have little experience with it. They know nothing about rotating… Here comes the best part….. Some of them will get carried in those placement matches, therefore they will most likely be placed in Gold or even Platinum division. And that creates the problem for you, who deserves to be in that division or even better. Those ‘carried placement’ players will get in your team, and you will lose because of them. And you can never progress any drastically because of that….. How can someone with no PVP experience be placed in the same division with people over 5000 games. Tell me Anet, explain me your awesome PVP improvement.
Than that probably means it is time to finally switch to Overwatch for PvP. At least that game does a better job at balancing, class roles and matchmaking.

This. Placement is BROKEN.
Not to mention, new players, or any pvp player in general can come in on the LAST DAY of league, win their placements and make leaderboard. ON THE LAST DAY. For the people who played hard throughout the season, is that fair? NO.
I had the opposite experience. Horrible placement matches but once that was over I started having good matches.
