So, I played 10 tourney solo queue games today and and counted the different classes appearing in these games:
88 players (without counting me; two games started 4vs5)

23x necro
21x warrior
14x ranger
12x thief
11x guardian
4x mesmer
3x engineer
0!x elementalist

And no i dont think it was just bad luck. If i count the different classes during the next 20 matches i think the classspreading will look similar.
So any comments from arenanet about the current class balance? Especially about the mesmer und elementalist? (I dont know about the engineer. I think the class is pretty strong/balanced so i’m a bit suprised there arent more of them)

WvsW smallscale & tpvp
Champion- Magus, Shadow, Illusionist, Hunter

Honestly over my 144 games i can only remember 3 elem and that was at the lower rank area.Same with mesm. The only difference in my experience is that rangers are more popular or at least the same with necros followed by warriors.Everybody who doesnt want to go ranger/necro plays warrior this time ..

That is because they are good against the typical necro and ranger builds. Of course, when team coordination comes into play that doesn’t really matter, warrior still eats dirt, which is why nobody is using them in tPvP.

I disagree.People already started using thm in serious tpvp as seen today with great success.I honestly think that warriors were too overbuffed although not as hard as necros and the only reason you havent seen them appear in serious tpvp immediately after patch was balance ..perception.. It ll take time but people will use them.
Not only that but now they have also their own share of bad designed and uncounterable gamplay with things like berserker stance, skull ccracks animation and lenth and passive regen with healing signet.
Im not saying they didnt deserve these things but surely they arent the poor kid sitting on the bench anymore and they got a lot going for them that touch areas the game has problems with like animations visibility and spam

Tbh they are still bound with cds so you can say you can handle them..but that berserkers stance..man 8 sec of kitten YOU to classes that have cond damage or survive through soft cc while they hit as hard as always .Great design ,right?

Sorry to say, but you are wrong. Warrior is still weak in many aspects and is a liability to any tPvP team that doesn’t build specifically around the warrior. Even then, it is hard to justify bringing one over another class. You are free to think what you want though.

@Ashanor : Go say that to Plastic Fantastic and to Bruho’s Warrior who solo’ed all Nonstop Nonsense holders in the last match of ESL. Warrior is very strong at the moment against the spam of condi builds with low evades and stunbreaks.
They also don’t build anything around him, Bruho just contests the far point solo during the entire game.

@Ashanor i can say i also changed my opinion on Warriors. During Hot Join (i hate solo Q because of syncing, leavers and unjust matching) i fought 2 warriors who showed me otherwise. One of them was Gaar something, who apeears quite often at dueling scenarios.

He had healing signet, and he pretty much didnt lose to anyone on 1v1. He faced necros, eles, thiefs, guardians, and the list go on. Of course the player had a lot of skill, but the fact that he can kill all others classes without much trouble means warriors are pretty decent now. The other one played as a roamer in clockwork, and he was able to keep decaping points (he would travel from close to far and keep them decaped). He had lots of swiftness, stability and used a skill to plunge forwards. When faced with oposition on point, he was able to quickly dispatch them and keep going.

I dont play warriors (i main thief and have been playing necro for a few weeks), so im no expert, but my perception of the class has changed a lot. Their stun locking, healing and condition immunity isnt cute, its pretty scary :p

well until A-net learns to balance the professions (there was a time when i though they had nailed did but they broke it again 2 month later…) there will always be a profession that will be dominant.
Since in PvP everyone has the same lvl and gear, there is very little effort to reroll, some players will always reroll the op class or at least make an alt just to see how fun it is to faceroll other players that chose to play with their “main” character"

If everyone could only enter PVP after lvl 25 although ppl will still roll the OP classes, the number of players that do it would diminish drastically i believe.

the other solution would be class balance (lol)

I played in a game that had 4 eles on one team. They are not uncommon.

Engineers are rare because they are stupidly hard to play. Grenades for example…well i tried them for ages and couldn’t hit anything until they were pretty close. Then you have bombs which are fine but when your using bombs the enemy is right on you…dangerous when your not great at the class. I think engineer is too unfriendly for most players…that’s just an opinion not saying its fact or anything.

Elementalist are in a bad spot just now…there’s a thread about it kicking around somewhere.

Mesmer – as above.

Warrior is still in a terrible spot all things considering. It is just really good at killing spirit rangers, engis, and does ok against necros as the popular builds for these classes have no stab, little to no break stuns, and are shut down by zerkers stance.

Warrior works much better in solo queue than in team queue because it is much more skirmish based and is packed full of these classes it does well against. Also, the lack of team play in solo queue leads to fewer bunkers and annoying linebackers to shut you down in large team fights.

The class still has some huge issues against things like mesmers, ele’s, guardians, and in large team fights, these things just are not prevelant in yolo queue.
