Players ignoring chat
I think it’s part bad luck. I agree it’s sometimes frustrating, in particular in tPVP, where you’re trying to discuss strategy but end up having a conversation with yourself. Anyway, some of your concerns will be gone as soon as Custom Arenas are implemented, but I agree some people should try and communicate more. Maybe some don’t speak English? That’s when the voice commands such as those in Smite can come in handy, if they get automatically translated to the language of your system.
Reading chat is boring. Especially if 90 percent of the text there are people calling others noobs.
Edit: Voice commands would be nice. Know voice commands from another game where they help a lot. Also you don’t neet to type that much.
Sucks, but people are sometimes just too stupid to realize the importance of communication. Nothing we can do about it:

I’m confused. Did you join a tpvp match to duel and people would ignore you, or in the tpvp match people wouldn’t listen to your strategies?

I intended to do a normal tpvp match. No duel.
I asked several times, what the strategy is, if there even is one and even if the more experienced players could tell me what´s important on that map.
I´m still a noobish rank 7 so I often need advices :/
But I want to improve…
When they implant a punishment for leavers of afk , u should turn off the chat :P

Tbh, when I see “What’s the Strategy?” asked in /team chat it just screams at me that “this guy doesn’t know what he’s doing”.
In truth, there aren’t a whole ton of viable strategies for pugging. It’s more about understanding the map and it’s mechanics, and then deciding on roles. Gauging your own comp vs your opponents comp, and anticipating opportunities to exploit or prevent.
If you want to start a dialog with your team then you’re likely better off asking questions regarding more specific details regarding that particular map – asking about roles is a good one to get people talking.
You could always just be honest as well. Saying “hey, I’m not sure what to do here but I’m built to do X, so what should I do here?” is far better than asking “what’s the strat?”
You might be surprised how forthcoming a lot of players can be with advice and tips if you’re just straight forward about it.

I have to remind myself not to read chat every time I go in. I have no need for face rolling Thieves to yell at me for destroying them on my Warrior. This is also true for the very rare occasion that I run into a bad Mesmer/Elemenatlist/Ranger as well.
I also don’t’ read chat to remind me not to rage in chat while I get face rolled by a Mesmer/Elemenalist/Ranger. It is not losing that makes me angry. It is the horrible balance of these professions that makes me angry.

So just to make clear… You´re telling me to ask the same thing just in other words? o.o
I´m not sure whether people who dont answer to the question “Is there a certain strategy on this map?” would answer if I used your wording.
As I see it it is just the same question in different words.
Either that or my english skills completely left me :/ … which happens quite often x)
What I have done in the past with mixed success (more positive than negative though) is start out by just saying hell-o to break the ice. You’ll know in a few seconds roughly how open to communication the team is.
Usually I will follow up with “I am going to go to X and then do Y, unless someone has a different idea to try?”
Have made quite a few new friends to pvp with this way.

sort of.
though the question you’re trying to ask requires a much longer answer than the ones I suggested which require only a few words and make immediate sense to everyone on the team, as well as indicate a certain level of understanding and experience – i.e. you don’t sound like a “noob”
never underestimate the powers of perception

Thank you, Draedark and hackks for the tips
I´ll give it a try and lvl my charisma ability a bit.
Custom Games or a basic Dueling Option would be Jawsome.

Sometimes I get tunnel vision when playing, meaning chat goes by unnoticed for an extended period of time. That might have been the case.
Ofc, people tend to be rather indifferent when playing multiplayer, as well.

Guys, best way to learn PvP is repetition. Don’t worry so much about losing, or people not communicating in PuGs. Pro-tip: PuGs just don’t communicate. It’s been that way forever, in just about every game.
If you’re just trying to learn how to play the game, then hit hot-join or solo-join tPvP and just play games. Don’t rage yourself by getting upset because your PuG is losing. You’re going to lose a lot, especially anytime you face a premade. I crack up everytime I’m in a tPvP PuG and they start raging that we’re losing, when we’re up against a much higher rated premade. It’s like crying you can’t win a 100 meter race against Usain Bolt.
If you want actual communicative tPvP then you need a premade. Find some friends or go join one of the big tPvP servers, like Anvil Rock or Jade Quarry, and you should have no problem finding people.
So… I decided to give pvp a try.
To get itno the game a friend of me suggested to duel a bit.
That went quite well… until other players joined.
I thought: “Okay, let´s tell them kindly that we want to duel here”
So I did but I was ignored and I even posted it in grp chat, team chat and map chat…
I even whisperd some who told me that they dont read the chat.So I was like “okay, this is hot join maybe that wont be an issue at a normal tpvp match?”
My hopes were soon shattered…
Simple questions and notifications were ignored with only a few exceptions. Is that normal or did I just have a bad day? o.0
And why are people even ignoring the chat to begin with? I think communication is very important to get good results.
The picture says it all.

Because other people are being kitten doesn’t mean someone is especially ‘self entitled’ for making it want to stop.
There is literally no way to duel in this game or scrimmage short of the hundreds of empty SPvP servers.
Asking a random pug guy zoning in to go to one of the other servers to mindless kill people is little trouble on their part, yet the other way around is a pain for you when it means moving servers every 5~ mins and in the end forcing the pug to leave since no one else is there….
Its manners, people don’t close doors on random other people’s faces…. I mean there is nothing we can force to happen about it but that doesn’t make it their actions at all alright.
With regards to OP, I rarely SPvP but when I do it was REALLY common.
Dueling seemed kinda dead.

To all Posters with concerns about the attitude of the PvP community: Try to bare in mind that the attitude you are seeing is a vocal minority and not the majority. In addition, the best of the best almost NEVER have that kind of attitude. Usually the best players are community boosters that are very helpful. The angry, rage fueled punks tend to be younger players that can’t get girls to talk to them. Don’t let them bother you.
As far as learning tPvP is concerned, try to make friends and get a group running together and working together as often as you can.
Solo que some matches, and be bold enough to ask people on your team who seem good if you can work with them for a bit. You will often find that they are willing to. When I solo que I will often take a bunch of rank 15 and under around with me in a party and still win matches with them. I’m only rank 34 (not pro by any stretch), and when we meet skilled pre-mades we get rolled, but they learn, and I have fun (which is what solo que is about).
Specifically to the OP and anyone who has had a bad experience in tPvP:
If you are in North America and want to give tPvP another shot, then look for me online, and if I am solo queing, then I will run with you for a bit to get you rolling. The tPvP in this game has a lot of potential for fun and it would be a shame if you let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch for you.
I don’t sanction being a jerk but I have to be honest and say some people are really competitive. When I played high school sports everyone got on each others kitten all the time during games.
Want to give a shout out to Myrmidian Eudoros hooked up with him today. First time I met him. Showed me there are decent people in tpvp that are willing to help people learn in that part of the game. Thanks again for your time.
I noticed a bit of a silence issue in tPVP when I played it last month. We’d talk about who does what and who goes where, only to realize that 2/5 of the people there were not paying attention at all.
