yeah Guardians according to Karl are “in a good spot” even though both core and Dh are heavily flawed imo

Guardian is in good spot, it is the others that arent, but while other are better(in a much easier state to play them ) player will continue to play.
Can u imagine if other classes were balanced as guardian are? can u imagine the rage of players that would need effort to win?

So I play every class in sPvP except for Warriors and Thieves. My main has been Mesmer since release. I’ve seen the good days and the bad.
But I have to chip in after reading what you’re saying about guardians. If I’m honest, DH is the class that I feel has one of the lowest skill floors. Just the other day, I played DH in ranked pvp and managed to deal on the border of 700k damage. 700k! I am currently Diamond 2, so not Legendary, but assuming the league system has some semblance of correlation to realistic skill, I was not fighting potatoes. And I didn’t know what I was doing, either. Sure, I know the basic burst combos, but I have by no means even approached mastering the class, but was still able to dish out tons of damage and felt rather useful to the team.
I really don’t want to start an ego stroking contest, but to say that Guardians are the only class that requires “effort” to win is not only hilariously inaccurate, but rather insulting too.

Sadly, I didn’t take one! But that’s why I thought it was absurd! On my Mesmer, I average about 200-400k damage per game, and as I’ve said I main Mesmer, so can you imagine the look on my face when I reviewed the combat statistics and saw 700k on DH, a class I barely ever play?
I can’t provide a screenshot, so people will probably say that I’m exaggerating, and I won’t be able to disprove this since I didn’t take a screenshot, but I have no reason to lie.

I normally see about the same damage per game on my guardian, and I have 96% of my games played on it. There have been times I’ve hit a high number, but that was only because the other team was nothing more than target dummies. If you get what I mean.

If it’s any consolation, I talked about it on skype to a friend of mine. Here’s a screenshot of the conversation. It isn’t a screenshot of the actual stats, but it’s something at least.

Okay. Like I said though, that can happen if you’re able to blow up members of the other team. That can also happen if you’re engaged in a fight for a long time against a profession with a lot of sustain like an ele or engineer, because the numbers will keep adding up quickly

Lol, I’m 7pips from legendary, DH on aver. Is between 700-900k dmg in ranked .

That’s definitely a fair point!
But yeah, back to my original point, it’s not entirely accurate for anyone to say that DHs are the only class that require skill or effort.

Here you go mate in legendary.
you’re facing 2 reapers, half of that 1.1 mil damage were done to shambling horrors…
Actually, it wasnt. This was just as I hit legendary, back before people ran Rise!. Back when People ran Spite triple sig and wurm. It was however a total yawnfest at mid with cleric ele and Jesus druid.
Every time i play revenant it makes me really depressed because it makes me realize how BADLY pvp got powercreeped by devs and that there is no valid path to hope for thieves.

Like I said in a couple posts earlier, if you fight people with a lot of sustain for a long time your damage will add up, but it doesn’t mean anything. You guys still lost

i hit 980k in the AG for one of my games today haha

Dmg in itself doesn’t matter, you can farm a lot of it by spamming aoe on everything that can be potentially damaged. Dmg that however killed someone does matter.
Example: i don’t pull highest dmg numbers in game as thief (due to their nature of low sustain and avoidance of big team fights) but the dmg i land usually kills someone.
Not saying that everything should be about high spike damage but taking damage done in match as factor for evaluation of the class is kind of silly.

High Damage Stats are not something that really says how much Impact you had in some Situations. But it shows that you are able to pull out alot damage over time on a Power Class like DH. As a Rev i normaly rotate between Points and +1 or take a 1on1 and just in some matches i am able to stay in a teamfight long enough for high damage stats at the end. as a DH i have a different role and so often enough the damage numbers are higher. but to say that they say nothing is wrong. actually you did your job in dealing damage.

I am regularly above 550K in ranked PVP with DH. I am in Ruby. This isn’t extraordinary.

Meh, what can you do.
DH has a lot of AOE with traps so its easy to get high damage on it. Doesnt necessarily mean its a good thing. Better to do 300k in a match but have it spike down enemies than 750k in aoe where no one actually dies since it was spread over 3 or 4 enemy players at a time with an Ele or Druid easily healing the team.
I always do more damage on my DH than on my Rev but my Rev gets more players downed.
