Please do something about Turret Engis
As much as I hate turrets the real problem is as you mentioned conquest mode. I think most players have no problem killing them the problem is how long it takes and how long they can bunk a point while almost being afk.

But the devs are so proud of conquest…

Yeah, I’m specifically talking conquest mode here. I have no problem with them outside of that but it is just ridiculous how long it takes to wear fully specced turrets down on point while their score just keeps ticking. And even if you manage to drag a turret engi off his point, first thing he does is run right back to his little turret friends.
Also, in my opinion, the major problem is the thumper turret. I’m pretty much fine with all the others for conquest but the thumper is just silly as it covers the entire point.
Playing against turret engineers are becoming guaranteed wins, in my case. People are learning to rotate around them, and then destroy them as a group after wiping the rest of their team. I can see complaining when they are on your team, because they are a major liability against decent to good players.
yeah turret engis need to be toned down, they wreck lower to mid tier players and require no skill. pug stomper. if you ever play with a team that knows what their doing (will be impossible in solo q) tell them to let the turret engi afk a point and play the other 2, which will make the game 4v5 on the other 2 so you should be able to win em by +1ing each fight (turret engi won’t rotate) . that’s the beauty of conquest right there, rotations. it’s also the reason you don’t see turret engis in higher tier play, because they have poor rotation. still, anet needs to turn down this no skill build, make turrets scale with stats so turret engis can’t go full tank and still do a massive amount of damage.

While you are zerging a point, who’s protecting points from back capping?
Everyone says ignore the turret engi and 4v5 the other points but what about the team of four guildie turrent engis i have been queued up against five times in the last two days.

I’ve been having there more lately as well,1 is fine but more is a advantage if you don’t have counter comps and we know how people feel about changing specs..

Yeah. One or even 2 turret engies i can work around. But 3 is just a nightmare. Most important tho this game was geared toward casual players etc. With the main focus being fun, turret engi is the least fun spec to fight in this game.
Engi day might as well be called pve day. There’s 3 on every team. Most boring, yet most popular meta i’ve seen in the game. oh and the d/d ele is super boring but easy to defeat. When people find one meta and continually play it, you know there’s something wrong with the game.
Just fought a team of 5 turret engis and we won.

well, considering it’s a build that only works against people who can’t play all that well. you could just get better instead of asking for nerfs. i mean, it would fix your problem.
(i do know some builds can’t 1v1 the turret engineer, so if you run one of those builds just don’t fight it. i don’t try to 1v1 condi necro on cele enji, it’s my hard counter yo’)

The major part of the player base is mid-to-low tier solo queuers. With how often you face not one but two turret engis these days, and yes, the fact youre not playing with a coordinated team and are happy if people even say hi at the start of the match, they are just a totally not fun mechanic.
Sure, pro teams deal with them easily, but that is like, less than 1% of the pvp playerbase?

fighting my stunlock warrior, or my bomb engineer is also not fun for low level players. i have had people, mostly theives run from me on sight and try and hide behind bits of terrain so i cant get them. builds are not supposed to be fun to fight against, ideally they should be fun to play- but that’s down to player preference.
personally I don’t see a lot of turret engis at all, but maybe my rank and mmr are too high for it idk. regardless bad players are going to get owned, because they are bad. things shouldn’t be nerfed so people who are bad at playing can deal with it, because they will be able to deal with it when they get better. i used to have no idea how to fight mesmers, and get rolled never being able find them or kill them. but guess what buster? i talked to and dueld a mesmer main in my guild, and made my very own mesmer. now i can deal with them.
long story short: learning how to beat the build, especially when it only works vs people with low skill, is much more effective than asking for nerfs on the forums.

Time to switch from p/p engi to turret engineer with cele amulet.
Record some funny “skilled” pvpers.
Maybe make even a troll video.
They should nerf turret engineer.
If you are against that well you are simply a turret engineer who loves easy kills and if i can say…a kid who doesn’ t want to give up on his toy…

So let’s say you can kill a turret engineer 100% eventually with range. Do you know how quickly you need to do it before there team has gotten more points than they will lose by you killing him?
Takes me less than 10 secs to kill turret engie. I main a ranger. Im quite good. I dont even range the engie down. I go in use my invul and blast my AOE/CONDIS . Problem solved. Or if you prefer to meta build like 99% of the gw2 population, use an lb ranger or an staff ele or a shatter mes…the list goes on and on. If you die to turret engies you need to uninstall they arent good.

Wait for the Stronghold and you’ll probably never see turret engineer again
I really hope Stronghold has more maps and separate itself from SPVP map selection. As ranger main, I probably will never choose maps other than Stronghold because finally there’s a map that favors skirmishing instead of bunking.
Ai builds shouldn´t have any place in pvp. Even tho this build is too passive to be strong on a competitive level, it is just too rewarding and too strong for the effort it takes to play it. No unexperienced player can outplay this build and even for veterans it is hard in some situations. This just encourages more and more people to pick up this playstyle.
An easy build like that can´t be that strong that it rewards bad players and give them such a huge advantage over those who play active builds/classes.

Good luck surviving due to AI alone.

Don’t tell me that it hurt your pride that some random engineer roflstomped you.
Was it Rabbit Finisher or Deer?
Yesterday my friend and I queued up against a 5 turret engi premade from the same guild. When you see people resort to cheesy builds to farm ranked, it just feels so… wrong.
Nevertheless, it was the temple map so we won easily with constantly wiping them in team fight. But guess what, since their MMR is probably low yet they can hold at least 300 points against us, their rank points would advance no matter which outcome anyways.

That’s the only problem I have against this build. Sure, it’s a guaranteed win if the opposite team has one: let him on his point and wipe his team every time on the other points. But while this strategy is unquestionably optimal to win the game, the problem is that the turret engi’s team is able to score 200 points EVERY TIME, unless I decide to take a huge risk by rotating 2-3 players to quickly dispose of him (which I don’t bother doing most of the time, victory is what matters to me). So even if they loose against much better players (which is most of the time), they hardly ever loose LB points. That’s why before last week’s reset, the number 1 EU was a turret engineer.

Thanks for your constructive opinion on this topic. Either you don´t have the slightest insight into pvp or you get carried hard by turrets and try to defend it.
Yea turret engies are an STD that has infected both ranked (for people afk-farming rank) and unranked for some reason (for people who want to play guild wars, but not really).
In fact, turret engies are unreasonably strong on foefire side-points with proper placement of turrets on ledges far off-point, even something like a staff ele (a general hardcounter) doesn’t really have much of an advantage.
This build really hurts the fun of games, increases player frustration, and is way too effective for someone who can just afk most of the game.
Nothing needs to be done about turret engis. The soloq population needs to learn how to deal with them which unfortunately will never happen.

they just haven’t realised that a condi build vs a class designed to loose against condi is 100% kek mode.
edit: here is the clue. if you want to roll turret engis just run a condi build. if you can play it alright you will roll them. they do not have enough condi removal to beat you.

every single match we get turret engis . . . “Avoid turret engis go far instead”.
Why . . . lol . . . tell me another class that requires this?

Stronghold is going in the same queue as conquest >.>
I’d like to reiterate that yes, with a good, coordinated team, turret engis are easy to beat. However even in high MMR, there is a good chance you will have 1 or 2 players that won’t coordinate or aren’t the greatest at facing turret engis and will simply yolo dive the turrets every time they respawn. I do think turret engis need to be toned down because of many reasons; they require no skill, they don’t scale with stats, and the biggest reason – they easily beat teams that aren’t coordinated. This makes them the solo queue kings, as you can simply roll turret engi and easily get to mid to high MMR with having no idea how to even PvP. This creates imbalance when turret engis play other classes or builds because they don’t know how to fight or rotate, and are in higher MMR games.
