Similarly, totally imbalanced teams seem to be a big issue. I am tired of seeing one or both teams with 3+ of the one class and the other with 3+ of a different class. I see no reason for this. At the last second before start a match could balance with much more even distribution. Take today I was in a match where we had 4 rangers and the other team had 4 guardians. Couldn’t the masters of programming have made it so at 10 sec to start the teams balanced the repeat classes out to 2 rangers 2 guardians each? Seriously, its not that complex.

I tried playing spvp over a year ago – 4v5s happened all the time. So I just stopped playing the game altogether.
I recently decided to try spvp again – same problem as before.
It’s rather disappointing.
It#s not a problem the devs can fix.
Seriously, you have that in many other games too + sometimes ppl get really disconnected.
And profession check pre-game is useless, unless you would allow ppl to not login using another character after a game pops, which can also be a problem, if queues take to long and ppl get bored on their pvp-only toon …
The only, and most usefull solution is to play teamQ, with a full team.
It would be soo cool if they (Anet) would have a team ladder instead of the current TeamLeaderboard.
Perhaps automated tourneys and boom, there you go problem solved .
Because noone who accepts an invite to a teammatch randomly leaves, or he will leave the team forever.
In my opinion they should randomize hot joins. As soon as you hit “play now” you would be redirected to a map and a message would pop up asking you if you would like to join the match. Teams will be hidden so will lvls so as soon as you hit join the match you would be joining a random team with random player (the whole purpose of hot join)
also if you quit a match a penalty would be applied.
+1. I want BALANCED and FAIR match-ups. Tired of try-hard carrying my team and still lose vs a team we should normally win. Put people with same leaderboard ranking and/or win ratio together and not beginners.

How is this not a problem the devs can fix? Every other PvP game out there have a system to prevent unbalanced match starts…
They should simply add an “I am ready” button that has to be clicked by all participants within a given time frame. If one or more haven’t clicked they get dishonored and all the other players go back into queue – simple as that.
As for those times where people get disconnected or whatever they should force one of the players from the team with most players to stay in base until one teammate die and then he have to wait. Or simply a volunteer system where no one loses rewards.
These are all basic stuff that GW2 should have had since launch…

Like a said in one of the earlier post about this Anet should put a rule(or whatever u call it) that anyone staying in the base for x amount of time gets a dishonorable so afker would have to move the char outside and be afk as he like but he’ll most likely get stomp and go back to base and if he still be afk and he’ll get the dishonorable so there’s no option for them but play or get the dishonorable.
Also anet don’t tell us the time for the base afk so people don’t abuse it.

Its an utter JOKE to allow RATED matches to fall victum to such BULLkitten for the people who actually care about improving their ranking..

Fixing this and getting rid of hotjoin for people above a certain rank (or at least segregating it so people under rank 10 dont fight 80s) would do way, way, way more for getting people back to this game than everything in the feature pack combined.

The fact that this game still does not have the obvious solution to 4v5 in solo queue is probably one of the most absurd things I’ve seen in any game ever.
Literally, here’s how to fix it in 1 day:
When the queue pops, everyone who is not afk selects Ready Up. If someone doesn’t click the ‘ready up’ button, all those who were ready go back to the front of the queue until another person is added.
This system is in so many games from the WoW dungeon finder to LoL solo queue. It absolutely blows my mind that Arenanet is still allowing games to start with one team a member down due to an unintentional AFK.
There are several suggestions to fix 4vs5 issue:
1. At beginning. Basically when queue pops and you click on it, it means you are ready to play. If you don’t click in x time (like in www queue) you are out of the queue and you need to restart your queue (very similar to www queue)
2. During the game. when a team has 1 less player than the opposite team, when one player of the opposite team gets killed, he doesn’t respawn, he stays frozen in a limbo, waiting for another player of his/her team to get killed so he can respawn (thus, creating a simple respawn queue).
Problem solved.
Well, there is a ready button. If you’re suggesting that it should not allow the game to start if someone doesn’t hit play, then that’s fine, but that won’t fix 4 v 5 since so many occur from DCs during the start or end of the game.
Woulda been nice to see something like this in the Feetcha Patch though…
In my previous reply, there is the solution for beginning phase and during the match
Respawn freeze solution is better than hot join autobalance (it doesn’t work and it can be exploited with spectator mode), better than play 4vs5 or similar, it is flexible (if a guy get disconnected but after he can rejoin, match continues in equal number and freeze queue stops) and you can apply this solution in every gamemode (hot join, soloqueue, team queue etc.)
It would be important for competitive tournament too, i remember tournament matches where one team had a disconnection and a member of the other team was immobilized in their base to let the match continue in equal number.
Basically the same Logic.
