Please, god add gear incentive to PvP
terrible pvp systems that are worse than even gw2 are -> that way
maybe you’ll have better luck getting hired over there
No. I do not want this at all.
Incentive is fine, Gear is not. I went into PvP so I didn’t have to do that nonsensical grind.
Fix the ranking system so it doesn’t take 12 years to reach rank 60, then add incentive such as Toon slot unlocks, and more interesting cosmetic/animation mechanics.
HAHAHA
Standardized gear for PvP was one of the reasons I came to Guild Wars 2. I find the current game mode for sPvP quite boring, so I don’t play it, but I would never set foot in the HotM if gear progression was introduced.
Yeah, seriously. If you need that, just go play WoW…
Thanks, you’re fired.

I’m against sPVP gear grind as well.
You want incentive? Try getting top 1000 in this game. That’s all the incentive that’s needed in PvP.
man i really feel sorry for ppl that didn’t play gw1
it’s like they’ve been living in an alternate universe of bad gear grind all this time and they need it now like a drug habit
You want incentive? Try getting top 1000 in this game. That’s all the incentive that’s needed in PvP.
You think that a ladder is hierarchy?
People don’t wanna appear on some stupid leaderboard as much as they wanna parade their status infront of others, nobody checks leaderboards and nerds don’t give a crap about them.
GEAR. HIERACHY. PHYSICAL REPRESENTATION OF STATUS
nerds love it, everyone loves it
lol ababmer
is gear that’s better the only way to show status?

No no no no no top 1000 is freaking easy. I’ve been playing sPVP as necro on EU for only around 4 weeks and I already was at 535 on the shmeaderboards from my solo queuing. I’m not sure how it works but I would suggest that top 100 or 50 is a good challenge. I’m only rank 26 or something around that.

Then what makes you think people are going to pay attention to people with better gear? I am having a hard time understanding this because, only the top end people have the best looking PvP gear.
There is already a gear incentive in this game, except it is cosmetic.
also people acting like leaderboards are some sort of symbol of prestige are a bit delusional but that’s a topic for another day…

It’s not that simple. There’s far more than 1000 players playing the game and positioned on the leaderboards.
The game works off a match rating, similar to other games. If you are high rank, you should also get another high rank team to team with you. This doesn’t always work, but more often than not it holds true.
Also, me and my friends could argue that getting bronze/silver in GvG and 2900 in World of Warcraft is a complete joke and easy, but the fact the matter is a large majority of the game cannot achieve the results.
No thank you. Gear =/= skill, and someone should never kill me because they out gear. If you want to play a game with gear progression, I heard WoW is falling even farther in a crap shoot, play that.

op wants to act like a cool kid but really he’s a worse “nerd” than anyone here.
gear progression is a status symbol in other games because their devs want to keep you paying each month. keep on payin man, in the mean time all the devs did was bump some numbers in a spreadsheet.
status can be shown with anything that is difficult to achieve. keep drinkin that wow kool-aid man, but it don’t work here
like i said mate, you’re the biggest nerd here
you’re right that the pvp is not good, but a gear treadmill is an artificial cover up for badly designed game. at the very minimum, gw2 is transparent with its imbalances
the fact that you want it so badly just means you thrive in skill-less environments where super-nerds can grind endlessly to achieve artificial superiority

I AM INDEED.
It wastes time pretending to be something its not, fact is more people would be pvping if you gave them a hierarchical incentive that is materialistic and reflects our real world.
You can add incentive in far better ways than adding a gear grind, making people who don’t have the time to actually DO the gear grind have to quit.
And before you go “l2read I said make level brackets” or gear brackets, what ever you call it. You’re shooting yourself in the foot if you do that. Sure, lets SPLIT the pvp crowd, so that people in the same gear at the low bracket can play together, and the people with the same gear in the higher bracket can play together. Because you know… You’ll notice that grind then!
Think about things before you spout it.

Guess what, more people would be WvWing if there wasn’t any gear grind.
Stop qqing, no self-respecting PvP player wants this.
reality check: you can have incentive that doesn’t give super-nerds a handicap in fights

You don’t know jack about pvp and should leave this thread, the game isn’t an ESPORT and it never will be because its pvp isn’t good enough, so bite the bullet and add gear progression so that you can get gear whilst you play the PvP

I’m simply waiting for you to be banned for about 5 infract-worthy posts in this thread alone, and for this to be deleted.
It’s truly a shame that it’s against the rules to call you for what you really are, he who dwells under the bridge of umad.

Gear progression won’t do anything for this game. You are just another WoW drone, that got burnt out, and came here. Noticed this game isn’t WoW (big surprise) and using caps to trying to get your point across. Seriously pathetic man.

you have brought compelling arguments and well-thought out reasons for your side in this thread
not
Ababmer, go jump in WvW. Seems to have what you want, you can go kill low levels with subpar equipment very easily for an ego boost.
On the other hand s(tructured)PvP is about an equal playing field for all players from the getgo – that is what makes it an excellent base for pvp design.

Yet its not.
Again, from a design perspective they have this idea (confirmed by the cretin thinking they’re gonna get the best esport pvp in mmo’s) that their structured pvp is ESPORT capable when it simply isn’t, its good, but its not on the level even from an artistic readability standing, nevermind a gameplay balance standing.

and so it follows naturally that a gear grind would improve game balance… what a joker

All of your arguments so far have been ‘THIS IS NOT WOW LUL’ which isn’t a valid argument at all. Seriously contribute something worthwhile once in your meaningless existences
I have already told you to go PvE. PvP in GW2 should not have gear progression. Do you know reading comprehension? You want gear progression, it will never happen so it would be better and save everyone’s time if you: A Leave the forums and the game, or B Do WvW and PvE.
Telling me to go PVE isnt an argument.
Failure
Then leave. Read the whole post. I just said, it won’t happen stop wasting your’s and everyone’s time. Hell, even some poor moderator’s time.

Aw man, I coulda beat all your arguments, but when you pulled this on me- oh man! My arguments were just, like, obliterated!
I tend to enjoy your comments considerably Arganthium. This is unusual for me, as I tend to hate everyone equally.
lol, you didn’t seem to read my posts
why is gear stat progression the only way to show status?
What I got from this thread:

Jesus Christ I literally can’t believe you just insinuated that people don’t buy cars for performance on public areas.
What an amazing closer for an amazing thread. I’m certain the mods will just adore all of this.
I’ll bet they’re working on adding stats to our PVP gear right now, which is why they haven’t replied yet. Hard at work, them Devs are!
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
as you just said, it’s about “boasting” and “showing off”
neither of which have anything to do with giving a super-nerd an advantage over a skilled player.
pve – gear progression
pvp – skill progression
if you feel you need gear progression in pvp, test for pvX.
most likely, without you even you knowing it, your X=e.
Thank goodness for no gear progression. It’s the core reason that many GW2 PvPers even start to play in this game, so it’s a fail argument to hope for otherwise, as literally…. EVERY other MMO already does this.
We don’t want it, Anet doesn’t want it, and it will never happen, to much of our appreciation. It’s one of the core things Anet has done SO right.
No need to mention the fact that you didn’t have to grind out gear, to pvp in GW1 effectively, and that game did well. This is guild wars →2<- lol.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
The only reason PvP in this game is at a low is because of the all Conquest game types. Tiered stronger gear will only destroy the community. Having opponents with much higher stats will only create imbalance and that makes competitive play obsolete. Bottom line OP is that you’re wrong.
If you want to play the car analogy game I suggest you look at professional racing circuit. NASCAR, F1, Indy, they all drive similar level cars. It would be stupid if one person had an F1 Car and every other racer had a Prius or Focus.
If you need better gear to win you’re doing it wrong. Tiered gear is for noobs. If you jus want it so that you can show off and be more powerful than others in-game then you have very serious real life issues. I hate to break it to you but a video game will not solve your problem.
gear prog is the death of serious and balanced pvp.
God has already added gear threadmill to pvp. No, I meant wvw. And yes, it’s considered pvp. I think.
Blizzard dosen’t even take their pvp seriously, and end game in any truely competitive game is fairly balanced. (with the slight imperfect balance factor to have a changing meta.)
there is no reason to match someone with significantly better gear.
if you fight someone in WvW who is scaled up 80 and you are 80 in full exotics, you can litterely one shot someone, and for a serious competitive game you cannot have that, why would you even want to play a game like that?
Go back to WoW if that’s what interests you.
On a side note I smell a troll, even if I just fed him I’ll take one for the team: DON’T FEED THE TROLL!
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
No one can actually be this stupid as Ababmer, so close this troll thread mods…
No

SPvP is already on It’s last breath. Adding a gear grind to it would completely destroy it.
shows over folks
mods deleted half of op’s posts
was fun while it lasted
Seems like you have to fill your lack of skill with time spent on gear-grinding, because on the same level you can’t get anywhere.
No thanks, A-Net made the right decision for GW2.
I can say without a doubt I would quit the game IMMEDIATELY if this happened. The amount of no’s in this thread speak for themselves.
You can grind for gear in PvE if that’s your thing. I personally enjoy the game for what it is and only see the addition of gear as another imbalance. It’s like trying to play a game of chess where one side has no pawns and no queen. If you don’t enjoy the game itself and would rather grind for pixels then I’d suggest you grind some homework. It’s a better use of your time.
Edit: I genuinely mean the above statement in the kindest way possible and it’s just my personal philosophy on grinding . I don’t mean it as an insult in the slightest as I know some people do enjoy grinding for the act of grinding. I’m just joining the chorus in saying it would detract from the game.
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
