I’d gladly give up heart of thorns entirely if it meant that you’d devote more dev time to fixing Spvp. You keep trying to push an esports agenda but you don’t do anything to actually make it work.

I’m a new pvper, and really terrible. I lose all the time, and I haven’t a clue why I’m losing. There isn’t a match making system that works because I fight the same people that are leaps and bounds better then me.

Hotjoin is a cesspool that doesn’t accomplish literally a single thing. Group queuers constantly face up against solo queue players wasting both of their times.

Can we please get some dev info on ideas you have to fix this? I don’t care about that stupid new map at all. I want to know whats being done with matchmaking and queueing?

First of all, it isn’t matchmaking it’s you. You can’t expect Anet to pick the worse players in the game to make your pvp experience better. In my experience, it has actually improved in the last 2 months.

Secondly, they’ve never said their goal was to be esports on a competitive level. They already stated what they’ve wanted for the game from day 1. It definitely wasn’t esports. In fact, pvp wasn’t mentioned at all.

There’s a million revisions they could do to improve the pvp experience and little has to do with classes or matchmaking. I could go into detail but that’ll be tl;dr.

All the recent changes to spvp seem to make it seem that esports are something they care a lot about. Which esports predominantly favor smaller pvp sizes typically 3v3 or 5v5 as it’s generally more engaging and entertaining to watch. However it’s very steep on the learning curve since it’s small scale.

Matchmaking is complete crap right now. The largest reasoning for matchmaking being complete crap is because there isn’t enough people doing it for matchmaking to even work. There is literally about 500 or less people at any given time actually queueing into pvp. It’s probably the least done thing in the entire game, because it’s pure kitten.

Even the really high end players are complaining about it. They’re losing the top esports capable people because the entire system is pure garbage. There isn’t an effective ladder system to determine good players, it’s literally about being on a team and to get on a good team you have to get your name out.

There needs to be lots to change, and honestly I’d like to see hotjoin move back to 8v8 but given a similar treatment to unranked where you can’t leave the map at all. So you’re given a new fresh map, and you can’t leave until it’s over. None of this yoloqueue stuff.
