Please make a 1v1 and 3v3 mode
I would love them to make a 1v1 and/or 3v3 mode. There is a big problem with them not making one, however. The fewer numbers in PvP the more obvious the imbalances between classes become. There also exists in the community a type of SPVP player that is kinda like a pve player on here that doesn’t want the pressure of doing well in a 1v1 or 3v3. These are the type of people who want to keep it very team dependent and less dependent on personal skill. You’ll find these people play the hardest classes to focus and kill and tell you its a team game without any valid counter points as to why things are so unbalanced.
This group is actually a growing population since they added pve incentives into spvp.
For this to happen it would probably take someone to buy anet from NCSOFT. Id be willing to guess sustain and 5man teams fits in with what they’re user metrics tell them. Id image the user data indicates a large player base of casuals who don’t like dying and wan’t to rely more on teams than individual skill.
PLEASE ANET. The current mode does not even involve people fighting each other, you can avoid other people, cap / decap points, then run away at the first sign of someone with no engagement. And don’t make the maps like the mid point of the new Colosseum map, give it like 4 pillars around the edge and one biggie in the middle. Also please add like a tournament maker and guild tournaments where you and your guildies can go fight other guilds in ruthless guild tourneys (its called freaking guild wars but there is not gvg). I am starting to loose faith in this game along with a lot of other people, so I think that this would breathe fresh life into the game.

I think that it would bring back a lot of players, especially WvW roamers. It would basically be the same thing except for the annoying running around and getting kittened by a blob. Also, it’s really hard to organize tournaments nowadays since GW2 is losing population (slowly), and this would really help bring the community together.

Well what you said about team play would be comp, and in wow a game that’s pvp revolves around this, is very team based and comp based, however, with b&s’s 1v1 it is very counterplay based, so this would appeal to both of these types of players.

1:1 is a training mode but nothing more. But teammatches for 2:2, 3:3 and 4:4 would be great.

if they can balance that every class can kill each other up to who is the better, faster, more tricky player that knows when what skill to use then im ok with this.

You do realize that this meta is more about team fights and that players who excel in the 1 vs 1 might not be as useful? In pug groups you are seeing lots of Druid, engy, and DH because they give healing and do damage.
Also this game is not called Guild Wars because of Guilds in the game or PvP. This was in Gw1 story line.
Lastly im pretty sure Anet knows PvP is missing the “it” factor. They have 2 maps in unranked people would prefer to play, the legendary players season 1-3 got to 25+ legend and this season its 5. Meta is just as kitteneason 1 so im pretty sure everyone is looking at PvP a little funny.

Honestly, I must elaborate on #2. Players always say 1 vs 1 will take away from pvp. Yet players are shacked up in dueling servers. I see more players in custom dueling and guild servers than in regular matches some days. A dueling server may get maxed out on a given day while only two or three normal servers have 15-5 players. Obviously, the pvp community enjoys 1 vs 1 significantly just a hint for sales purposes. Ranked 1 vs 1 will help the game rather than hurt it or its 5 vs 5 esports.
It probably would be easier to balance classes around 1v1 ranked. Then when we got good 1v1 balance then put 5v5 peoples in conquest and then everyone ready for fight as everyone able to kill any class. Problem solved.
1v1 ranked is also good if you want to know, how good and useful you are when you have to kill someone.
If you get bored of solo 5v5 or bored of getting bad teammates, than you can join 1v1 ranked and kick kitten there and if you win thats good and grats if you lose than you can only blame yourself. Plus you get information about how dangerous player you are if you have to kill someone. That also reward better ( higher division ) players with some nice ego boost that they are the most dangerous killer machines of gw2 pvp.
1v1 ranked gets fast q pops.
As much as I would love 1v1 gamemodes, I still feel 3v3’s can be the easiest to implement without the need to suddenly balance classes for the gamemode.
- A deathmatch with 3 rounds implemented
- 5minute limit per round
- A new algorithm added in match to calculate lowest health averages of each team to determine “draw” scenarios. (much like WoW in their 1v1/2v2 modes)
And if Anet don’t want the new gamemode active during Seasons, make it an Off-Season event in pvp. It’ll at least keep us busy until the season starts

I have to disagree,
Servers have been dead since they removed 8 vs 8 so using servers as a example isnt the greatest case.
Also many have been playing unranked/ranked and the seasons are long and people are posting screen shots of them having over 300 matches in ranked during a season.
So you we can all see people are playing unranked/ranked and saying a server of 15 people dueling isnt really a big deal.
Also on this very forum they had a 1 vs 1 core tournament then the guys from PZ are doing a 3 vs 3 tournament. To cap it off storm is doing a 2 vs 2 tournament with the AG tourney he already runs.
This isnt the case of people not being able to to play this style of game play at a competitive level. Its just not convenient enough for players in a game where PvE is the main main focus.
Seriously some players have thousands of gems simply by coming to this forum. staying informed on tournaments and entering them and just placing.
if they add a 1v1 system, imagine since most noobs will bandwagon to ez wins would u really be having fun dueling full tank druids, condis thieves, moa mesmers, MM necros, rampage warriors etc?
I’d rather have just a 3v3 spvp system but a 1v1 duel anywhere in the game.

The chaos we see with peoples opinion of op specs also supports the need for 1 vs 1 tourney mode. The class that is the best for winning will be seen quickly and eventually the classes will be balanced to even things out.
Really need 1v1 balance because its boring that overtuned class mechanic kills me in seconds or outlast my damage so good giving a feeling im fighting a boss alone so i die in the end. If you are solo player you will get 1v1 situations but you can’t solve it as your class is not on the same level as others. Anyone like Dragon Ball anime? The balance right now in this game like the balance in the power level of Saiyans > simple Humans in DB

I’m here to care for my end of the deal not a-net’s so not gonna defend the lack of duels due to balance etc. That’s their problem, not mine.
On my end 1v1 is needed very badly. Duels are nearly the perfect solution to biggest pvp woe which is chernobyl level toxicity. 1v1 in a bottle means:
- no afk/crappy/troll/raging teammates
- no accussations of being carried or forced to be a carrier yourself
- no one will rage if you make a mistake – only you will be paying for it
- no solo queue horrors (pug vs premades, oddball team comps etc)
- play your way – use any build you like and how you like – no teammates = no raging for being non meta. Also more build diversity since in solo play team oriented skills aren’t as needed and new, more selfish builds may emerge
- better balance – no more of this “a fix to necro is engi backup”. If there are some major profession hiccups 1v1 will expose them better then 5v5 and enforce proper balancing action.

Ranger would get low on health stun break from celestial form and get back to near full health.
Warriors with the burst skill heal and while running a zerk, marauder or anything that does high dps. Warrior if timed right can last for ever almost against any class.
I wont use every class as a example but if you take away the cap point and say go fight someone 1 vs 1 with a 1 vs 1 build. This game has all the classes nearly balanced.

Its fine to ask for something in game but to talk about unbalance on a 1 vs 1 issue shows a lack of understanding of what makes this meta.

I dont really play necro but when i saw this challenged i was goofing around i i went into a 1 vs 1 room. 1 is a friend, 1 is a random and he was learning and 1 was me spectating another 2 dueling.
I dont necro main so i cant tell you the in and outs but im pretty sure the better necro players in the game can come up with good builds for 1 vs 1.
Obviously these screen prints mean nothing but acting like 1 class cant be good in a 1 vs 1? I see the problem with thieves and necros in 5 vs 5 in the current meta but i do not see a problem in 1 vs 1 though some classes might have a advantage over others on a equal skill level.

Right now necro can’t win a 1v1 tourney end of story.
I would support a 2v2, 3v3, and 10v10 game modes for PvP. We don’t really need 1v1, just enable dueling in open world like all other MMO’s have already.
Man, a 1v1 or 3v3 sounds fantastic, in theory. Although it would likely make finding a match in 5v5 near impossible. But I’m all for it. There should definitely be a guild tournament ladder as well. Just a simple single elimination thing. They’ve really let pvp stagnate for no reason.
