Some proffs can avoid stomps from 5 players at the same time, some can’t even one, some can avoid 2 stomps in a row from multiple players, some have crazy dmg while downed, some have crazy healing, some don’t have almost any of these, some have almost all. How is this fair and balanced?

I agree. I think everyone should have

1 – Throw a rock
2 – Throw a larger rock (6 sec cd)
3 – The ‘look mom I’m a zombie’ temporary rally (30 sec cd)
4 – Self heal

Technically, no profession is able to avoid 2 stomps, if the enemy is playing optimally.
I do however agree that it’s pathetic that Elementalists have nothing to use at all, while everyone else has a somewhat “save-me”-button at their disposal immediately.
Instead of buffing Elementalist’s downed state however, I suggest we nerf everyone’s downed state to the level of the Elementalist’s. Meaning that it’s up to your team to save your butt, during the first 8-10 seconds that you’re lying helplessly on the ground. After the 8-10 seconds, a “save-me-button” is fair. This is just my opinion of course.

man, if you did that, suddenly the crying about the Elementalist downed state would be deafening.

No more “L2P” and “it’s a team game, get a mate to interrupt the stomp,” “vapor form is a great escape, nevermind that it literally hurts you to use” excuses would ever be heard…

I don’t play elementalist, but I think everyone should have elementalist-like 2 ability. If the enemy is near you and he’s stomping you, well you are dead and that’s fair because you are downed.
If he’s away you can stop him for a bit and that’s what every profession should have.

Player is down, why would he make such a great threat after he’s downed? C’mon. Mesmer is unbelievably strong while downed, confussion + illusionary rogue are doing a massive dmg.

With my mesmer my illusionary thief can get 8.7k crts ^^ But I don’t even think their should be a downed state in spvp

there has to be a downed state, or else the only guild participating in guild wars would be the thieves guild…

but i agree. many downed states are FAR too potent, while many are simply terrible.

The teleport isn’t far enough to allow that if you waste no time at all in the first and the second stomp.

Also, speaking about downed state, rezzing is too powerful atm. Rezzing is way too fast and restores too much hp imo. You get that tanky guy down and you needed almost a minute to do it, then comes someone with stability and rezzes him in less than 5sec with almost half hp.
Actually, he doesn’t even need stability, one interrupt is enough to get him a rezz.

I think there only need to be 2 changes to downed state.

  • thief needs 1 extra second recharge to his #3 ability
  • ele needs some help, cause those poor kittens can’t do anything when they’re downed.

edit: would be cool to have a kind of ride the lightning #2 ability on ele. Like the thief teleport but no stealth and a clear path to his next spot.

It was always needed a bit less than 5 secs to rezz a recently downed player (with 50% hp that is).

It’s far better to take it out of PvP entirely. The only thing downed state is good for is causing grief and promoting Zerg mentality. Zerg is being rewarded in a game that is supposedly (not even slightly to be honest) balanced. Take out downed state, balance all professions and implement proper cons to outrageous pros.

GW1 is infinitely better than GW2 in terms of PvP. Even when it was still vanilla back then. GW2 PvP feels like a prototype build. A failed experiment, whereas GW1 PvP, with all its flaws, is still the superior experience that actually involves and promotes skill over spam and zerg.

Hell. I’m very tempted to drop PvP entirely til the next expansion. It’s simply too boring and unrewarding as it is. WvWvW is too monotonous/repetitive but it’s still a viable past-time every now and then.

Too bad. A couple of weeks into the game and it already feels washed out. GW1 never lost its fascination for all those years. The only thing i’m looking forward to now are expansions. Whenever they might arrive, it can’t be too soon.

im not disagreeing with ya, maybe its possible i just start rezzing too late in the fight. the only time ive rezzed someone in that timeframe tho i had help.
