Specifically, they’re also used in some recipes. The WvW shard is also the same. They have to be a physical item.
just use the new converter to make loot bags. It seems you have too much to lack them when unlocking ascended gear. Or you can use them in stronghold hero skins ! I think they where introduced as a glory shard sink
