Please, removing glory vendors seems a needlessly punitive thing to do. What purpose does it serve to remove the ability to use your rewards? Is it really that difficult to leave one NPC standing around selling things for glory? Once people stop being able to earn glory, the use of the NPC will drop. At the least, automatically convert unspent glory to some tangible form like gold/reward chests so people are compensated if they didn’t get to a glory vendor by some arbitrarily scheduled date.

You know that there will be many people who have earned glory who don’t pay much attention to upcoming changes and suddenly one day find that they can no longer spend the glory that they have earned. They will not be happy about having their earned rewards taken away from them for no reason.

You know that there will be people who have taken a break from the game who have earned glory and then one day come back, only to find that all their glory is useless. This will not at all encourage them to stick around again, it will make them angry that their hard-earned rewards are being taken away.

Bottom line: glory is an earned currency and if it is being rendered obsolete, it should either still be spendable or be converted automatically to a still-usable form.

Not to pick at you here… but a lot of your suggestions would throw a lot of things under the bus.

• Convert the remaining glory to gold? Every player with significant glory will engineer how much glory they want to spend, and convert the rest into gold. Anet is very against a glory → Gold conversion.

• It is difficult to leave the NPC sitting there. Anet is trying to get people to use the actual ladders/new reward system that will be in, once the Glory vendor is gone.

• It’ll be months and months before the Glory Vendor goes, in favor of the all-new rewards system. I don’t have much sympathy for the players who’ve hid under a rock for 3-8 months from the game, without checking updates or logging on for 5 minutes to purchase their phat gears. Lol.

And I mentioned converting to the rewards chests that are currently bought with it. What’s wrong with auto-converting into those? People who were proactive would get more ability to choose what to buy, but people who didn’t aren’t left out in the cold.

You don’t have to “hide under a rock” to not pay attention to proposed future updates. Especially those of us who don’t actually do sPVP very often probably aren’t paying that much attention to it. And I really hope the folk at Arenanet have more concern for the satisfaction of their customers than you do- imagine them giving “I don’t have much sympathy for you, LOL” as a response to irritated players. :o

Zhaitaffy vendor is a hugely wrong comparison.

With this vendor, you essentially have purchasable PvP progression. When the REAL PvP progression system is in, it won’t work if people could choose to progress through a vendor rather than use the system.

Disagree all you want, don’t shoot the messenger delivering the message that Arenanet will never ever convert Glory to Gold.

They’ll be here for months, until the new system is implemented. The glory vendor with all of the good stuff is coming in tomorrow.

It isn’t wrong just because you say it’s wrong. It seems exactly the same thing to me, other than the candy not being something you necessarily ‘earned’ like glory is (which makes glory even more important to keep useful).

What is this obsession with Gold you have? How is giving people a bunch of rabbit rewards chests containing some random PvP skins giving them gold?

Guys, remember, Glory isn’t just going away some time in the future. It’s getting replaced. There will be a new reward system, which may even have its own currency involved. But they want to make a clean break from Glory. Probably because of some special way the new rewards/currency is earned.

new currency? what… what are you talkin about.. yo.. The dark crystals? Pretty sure those are not gonna be put in… as they most likely scrapped the idea seeing how awful it was..

No, the blog post is already looking too long. I need to start cutting out details and leaving them for the forum discussion.

PvP’s current Mystic Forge crafting won’t be going away for months, just like Glory.

I don’t think they remove glory vendors. Is there a news on this with official dev post? They might stop the ways you can earn glory. But not removing the vendoers…

I mean this would make your remaining glory useless and they absolutely can not do that. We even still have the tournament ticked vendor to trade tournament tickets… and these have been made impossible to earn for a long time now. Could as well have disabled that also and not offered this.

But with that vendor they showed that they cared about this. So they never will remove glory vendors. At least not completely or without making another way to spend remaining glory.
