Please remove all rewards from hotjoin.
i find hotjoin much moar fun than un/ranked.

in hotjoin, its up to you, an u can find a good fight eventually. it ain’t perfect, but my time is better spent playing the game on my terms rather than clicking around hoping ‘this matchup will be good, rite?’

thats why gw1 RA was so nice. no mmr, so fast matchups, tmd = very short matches. if your team was that terrible it was over in <2 mins. since no mmr, no streaks trying to keep u at 50% winrate.

i pvp because i want to play pvp, i find it fun to pvp. i dont’ want to wait in a queue or a terrible matchup (or several terrible matchups in a row)
i get some rewards, track progress and some rank, so at least its not 0 gains. it would suck if every time i wanted to pvp i had to decide, do i want to get rewards tonight or pvp. i don’t have hours and hours to play, so that would be annoying to have to choose one or the other
the rewards are already capped after so many games, so i don’t see why they need to be totally removed
there usu aren’t more than 20 hotjoin servers full when i play, so do u rly think those 200 people, r really going to fix the queue problems assuming every1 moved to un/ranked? does my having a decent time playing pvp affect u?

He never said he stacked teams, he said he goes to another server if the one he is on is too much of a landslide. Some people don’t have forever to sit around and wait on what could possibly be a horribly unbalanced match. In hotjoin, you can just leave and find a better match. It’s perfect for people that just want to jump in and play a few matches, and there is no reason to remove their rewards.
As for reward farming, those people often do that in their own private server. So again, your suggested changes will accomplish nothing but kitten a bunch of players off.

I’ve ran into certain players like that, was testing out a condi reaper build in hotjoins yesterday, got so bad I had 2 or 3 players just constantly joining whatever side I was on because I kept volunteering for autobalance, got autobalance 3 times in one game and still won but they kept trying to follow me.

You know, you don’t have to stack teams in hotjoin.
In fact I find it very good challenge to join a match that is being snowballed/farmed one way, join the losing team and try to turn it around. Ok sure I might not succeed, but I’ll be forced to play hard and stay sharp.
And unless I want to get a quick brainless daily, I always join the losing/weaker team to test myself.
As he said, it’s good to play when you don’t have much time to wait around in queues and want to have some quick casual pvp with zero consequences. But that doesn’t mean it has to be brainless farming – you have the choice as a player to make life harder for yourself by joining a losing team with weaker players.
Sometimes I end up swapping back and forth between teams to keep scores as level as possible – there’s all sorts of little things you can challenge yourself to do.
I say in Unranked/Ranked, you play to win; in Hotjoin, you play to challenge yourself, not necessarily to win.
I just want a more active queue and a less snowball match atmosphere in hotjoin.. Really no matter which you play it would be better. So many ppl play just for the chests if you force them to queue for it the queues will start popping instantly.

see i think we are actually on the same side here.
we both just want to play, less wasted time. its just a diff approach.
u are saying: ‘look all these players here could be in un/ranked, thus lowered queues and getting us to play more’
im’ saying: ‘look less options is going to turn off players not bring them to queue and get us to play more’
i think overall anet has gone w/ ur approach, lets funnel players where we want them to get more activity. but i dont’ think its been working, so i think they should go w/ a diff approach, which would be, give players more options, more ways to play, and more ways to have fun.

also looks like you don’t know, but hotjoin games give much less reward points and there is also daily limit on hotjoin reward points.
Just don’t worry about win\loss at hj. Hj result doesn’t affect your game statistic. Hj for me is a place for relaxed play, testing, spectating, etc. Plus it keeps rank/track farmers away from rated arenas. Farmers at rated arenas is a bad thing imho. Only their incentive is pve reward.

Not worried about win/loss I’m worried about the cancerous environment where every game is 5v3 and if you join the losing side you are getting zerged the moment you leave spawn.
What’s the point in rewards when the outcome of every match can easily be manipulated?
And increase rewards to unranked and ranked.
This WiLL. Remove toxic gameplay from hotjoin (significantly reduce at least), no need to stack teams for a win that gives you nothing. Hotjoin should be for practicing and learning.
This WILL also, increase activity for unranked, which leads to faster queues, funner games due to a fuller rating system etc.
Win, win, win, the way I see it.
And bring more toxic gameplay to Unranked!

If there were more game types I’d agree to locking everyone in a queue and having custom rooms ONLY player owned and modified with either their own rewards or none at all.
I’d disagree 100% pre stronghold since territories is personally my least favorite game type in anything ever, and although that is my opinion I know I’m not alone on that sentiment. Sure I play the game type and do so properly in queue, but the reason I’m there is to plant my flag in another player. Plus I’m the type who disregards the score and just keeps murdering.
If we started balancing around 2v2s and 3v3s then opening it up as a game type I’d be fully down to scrap hotjoins, being that the beauty of hotjoin is that you can just run around and kill players and not care about the game type. Unlike WvW where players run for days into a keep + have imba stats all while presuming you even find a decent fight (esp one that isn’t a 2 second rolf stomp, cuz I may get a precursor but zzzzzzz). Hotjoins is the type of thing where you can just shoot the kitten while waiting for your buddies to queue.
Not to mention the satisfaction of carrying a team down 300 points to victory cuz you just happened to join. The land slides are kind of fun to resist sometimes, and I’d be a bit sad face if I didn’t get rewarded for it outside of player praise.

Yeah I remember back in the day toxic players with abandonment debuff who couldn’t queue anymore, seeing them in hotjoin. How great it would have been if they weren’t still earning those dailies in hotjoin unaffected.
