Hi

So this, and last few of these beta weekends we received the “Call of the Mists” buff, which I feel is at least in part, absolutely pointless.

Specifically, the 100% PvP Only Magic Find boost.

In PvP matches, we do not receive loot from otehr players like in WvW, and MF stat does not work on chests and bags, therefore it is not applicable towards rewards received from matches, top player, reward tracks, etc. Since all of those come in chests / bags and do not use Magic Find stat.

So what is this for ? Perhaps one of the devs can clarify ? Has the application of MF been enabled for chests received via PvP ? Is this perhaps a typo or something that was supposed to be removed but wasn’t ? or is this something overlooked and done by a dev that is not aware players do not receive direct loot in this game mode ?

Need some official clarity pls.

I don’t think so. In fact, back when they switched out of MF armor and made it account wide, I specifically remember multiple dev posts stating MF does not apply to any chests or bags in the game, regardless of their source as well as Mystic Toilet.

Hence I would like to see some sort of official statement on this.

So if someone has a link to some dev post or vid to some sort of official word regarding this I would appreciate it. My google searches came out empty handed.

Buff is still useless. I rather just save a few, do one round of Silverwastes and use the magic find buffs from that map.

Hi Tongku,

Magic Find affects specific chests in PvP that are labeled like mobs you would kill in PvE land. For instance, the “Bird Loot Box” simulates killing birds in PvE but well a box. :P

So if you were in PvE and you looted said bird your magic find would affect that reward. As such opening the “Bird Loot Box” with high magic find will give you better loot depending on your magic find.

i think the bigger question was why did we have this buff this last weekend when everyone was playing beta stuff so kind of useless. was torn between trying stuff and playing my main.

Stronghold beta was out too I belive. I remember seeing the marker for it, though with the state my computer is in atm, I could not really play this weekend anyways.
