i don’t really want capes and i think it would be problematic wit the way game coded currently but some kind of backpieces would be nice probably
don’t agree with guilds though
what if guild does everything or wants to do everything? should they just make 3 guilds and keep hopping for certain rewards? cmon now

It may take a little bit to work in the code but i’m sure there is a simple solution out there without a doubt.

It may seem like more work for the odd guild that does everything but keep in mind there are almost NO pvp guilds at the moment – something HAS to be done
The cape system you propose is something I’d personally like to see, and is similar to an idea I proposed a while back dealing with medals. I think capes aren’t in gw2, though, due to some technical issues, if I remember correctly.
The medal system I proposed stemmed off the idea of the 100% map completion medal people already get. I thought it was neat and would be an interesting idea as an expansion of the achievement system, where a character accomplishing a certain feat would earn him a medal that you could choose to display next to your name.
It seems Anet is planning to add a ladder system of sorts and splitting PvP into seasons, just like WvWvW. A medal could be awarded to the top players in each ladder each season, for instance, along with any other prizes to help those players stand out among the community.
Capes are a fun idea, but I don’t see them being implemented into gw2 any time soon, if at all. I think medals, something they already have a system for, would be a good alternative.

there is almost no pvp guilds because pvp community is very small
TTS (guild consisting of 11 physical guilds, based on killing Teq only)has more players than entire pvp community, that is just sad

Seeing a high ranked GvG (the 8v8 competitive game mode of GW1) player in a gold trimmed cape in PvE is EXACTLY what got me into PvP in the first place. The fact that it is missing from GW2 is baffling.
all is vain
Capes always end up looking horrible due to clipping and other issues, matching grass blowing etc. There is too much to put into them to make them operate adequately. I would rather instead of a cape, have really unique/special gear unique to high ranked players/tournament winners that are given out at the end of each season. I think this would overall achieve what “capes” do without having the other issues associated with capes.
As far as guilds go, sorry my friend I need all 5 for my randomly acquired funny named guilds.
I would be surprised if Capes were released only through PVP as they are an item PVE players want and would likely spend decent amount of gems to buy… having special capes like guild logo displaying or some rank symbol would be cool though.

I might be alone on this but I reallllly don’t care if my cape blows with the grass as long as that means its a classy looking item showing skill rather than a tacky glow cluttering my screen some more. Also, I don’t think it matters how fancy you would make your armour look ostrich is always going to destroy it with a rainbow of colors! haha

Haha this is the problem exactly, there is no reason to take guilds in pvp seriously which means we are missing out on a critical source of community.
