[Poll] Would You Pay For GW2 Monthly?
I would have paid a fee for the game GW2 should have been.
But not for the joke pvp we have.
Bacon.
Still the better option to select so far.
In its current state? not a chance. The game at times feels like a free to play cash grab grind fest, so it would fit the typical model of the MMO world quite nicely. And just like almost every single sub MMO that has ever come out, it would die.
Guild Wars avoided taking on the monster that is WoW (easily the most played sub mmo for the last 10 years) by never going down that route. It was a very smart move, look at all the dead MMOs of the last few years. SOme of them even had high value IPs as well (star trek, star wars, warhammer, all well established brands), and they are all on life support or no where near what they claimed to be, all struggling (warhammer actually being finally killed off last year, took long enough, that game was dead 6 months after release).

When the game first released or soon after that, as a method to increase development…yes.
Now? Not a chance.
no.
in another perspective, for example,
i bought counter-strike source, counter-strike global offensive, team fortress 2 (before it became free to play) and i do not expect to fork out additional usd10 every month to play. guild wars 2 is no different.
also, the main reason why i bought and played guild wars prophesies back in 2005, followed by guild wars factions in 2006, guild wars night fall in 2006 and guild wars eye of the north in 2007 was because no monthly fees.
No because I do not think the company is organised in such a way that it would result in instantly better balance and content for pvp. I am happy with the game as is – definitely got my money’s worth and enjoy playing it but I wouldnt go so far as to pay monthly for it.
When they used to follow the manifesto? Yes. Now? No.
Why would I pay monthly when the devs don’t work monthly? Pay every month for patches that come out every 3-4? Ya right.
Maguuma
Following and playing guild wars 1 since release has shown me that the guild wars franchise naturally dies then an expansion comes out and hundreds of thousands flock back. Regardless of what has been said about expansions being made I know this will happen again as expansions go hand in hand with ‘a new leaf’ advertising campaign. In conclusion, I would rather have free to play with 1 time fee expansions so I don’t have to pay during the dead phase..
If I knew for sure that all the money they would earn from PvP players go into PvP section, I probably would pay. As long as you also have the option to pay via Gems/Gold.
I read the OP as a rhetorical question.
No. Emphatically No. I wouldn’t give Anet someone else’s money. Their past choices have burned my good will into the ground, and salted the earth.
If they managed to deliver a patch (or series of patches) with the following criteria -
- Fixed bugs
- Improved server performance so skills always (~99%, nothing is perfect) fired when they were clicked
- Fixed balance
- Opened up multiple TPvP viable spec options for every class
- Proved they actually listened to the community
- and then stated they were working on content, maybe I’d be willing to pay a small monthly fee.
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.
Noooooooooooooo (15 char ftw)
I would gladly pay a fee for that PVP game that was promised before launch, with biweekly balance patches and infrastructure.
As it is no no way I will spend another dime on the pvp until it gets significantly better.
Nope.

No, not in a lifetime.
At release- I would pay. Now?- no. They didn’t improve either pvp nor pve and the changes done to those modes are aimed only for casuals.
no matter what the game, I’ll never pay a subscription fee again,
its so 2004.
that’s why even if the new Elder Scrolls mmo is awesome i won’t play it just because subscription fees are archaic.
its the same reason i left wow, well subscription fees / pandas.
