Poll for modes of Competitive PvP
Conquest is the mode the game was balanced around. Stronghold is just a worse Alterac Valley mini and deathmatch is a one sided kitten fest.
With two coordinated teams, TDM isn’t really one sided.
It sucks that it’s completely removed (maybe it’s still available in hotjoin?). I think it’s fun to completely duke it out against another team as long as their isn’t a huge discrepancy of skill level and teams.
Honestly, I think that there’s a lot of potential in Stronghold for GW2 from a spectator’s point of view.
One of the biggest criticisms against people watching GW2 is that the game often looks a lot like a big cluster@#$% of animations. Stronghold not only spreads out action so that it’s not just a dogpile on a capture point, but it also has more diverse objectives that gives viewers something to follow, even when they can’t tell that a player just did something like juked a pin down to force an enemy to blow a defensive cooldown.
I REALLY enjoy stronghold, there is a lot to do and it does not seem to support boring bunker builds one bit.

What? I would think a healing Necromancer would be the best thing in the game for that map or a Druid.
I really like stronghold as well. Mostly because I’m guaranteed not to get a map I hate.

Yeah making one big push with heals tactic could ruin the map. But that can be fixed
I’m sad they didn’t do TDM a little better. A more diverse map with power ups or plenty of backdoors would’ve made TDM oh so amazing.
I think most of the people who are asking for TDM actually mean annihilation.

Stronghold isn’t that bad after some iteration, but it still has room for improvement. And it will never have the depth which conquest has.
Stronghold’s main purpose is an alternative to conquest which can also encourage new players to try PvP.

Simply put, two teams fight. Winning team has most survivors. Only way to score points is through kills.
I’m assuming by “annihilation” you mean, once you’re dead, you stay dead. I think that would be fine in most games, but with the rally mechanic in this game, I don’t think it would work. Also people would leave games very quickly if it was, once you died, what’s the point of seeing how it plays out? As far as a solo queue player perspective. This happened all the time in the Skirmish Arena System in WoW.
The more I play stronghold, the more I fall in love with it. With the way overtime works, it really allows both teams to make that final last push to go for the steal and win the game even if there is a huge point discrepancy.
I really enjoy stronghold and hope in some way we see more of it other than just a fun mode.
