Portal Repairing the Treb
Don’t completely kill it when they portal and run away then?
Do what ens said. Portal has a long cooldown. Finish off the treb once portal has expired.
Using portal means that you don’t have to actually run the repair kit to the portal site. It saves you travel time with the repair kit. Time that every other class has to run.
The mesmer could portal someone else with the kit — that’s not very efficient for team fights though.
How does the mesmer already have the portal at the repair kit? It only lasts 60 seconds and they have to drop it and then run to treb? The chance that the treb will get destroyed in time for them to use that portal is absurdly low.
Usually mesmers will drop portal at the treb when it is being destroyed and run to the repair kit so they can portal back when it dies. This is easily countered.
It seems like you are trying to turn this into an argument that, when left alone, mesmers can repair faster than any other class (well thief now has trap so that’s not true either). But this is just a benefit of running portal mesmer on your team, and it has much greater abuses than just repairing a treb in half the time.

What sucks is that you get the notification “enemy has got their repair kit” and then instantly “enemy treb repaired”. Doesn’t allow for much counter play when you have no time.
Something to think about,
If you are able to force them away from the treb and you see a portal dropped or you see a thief look like he just popped a squat then you can use that to your advantage.
A. Vs Mesmer portal He has to drop it before he leaves in order to get back. You can wait out the time on thise and when it expires then finish off the treb.
B. Vs Thief try to keep an eye on them. They have the option of going stealth then dropping it but if you follow them you can most likely trigger the trap and ruin their teleport.

You know what else doesn’t leave much time fo counter play ? When an elementalists waits for you behind a corner and than unloads his burst on you.
For this same reason I demand that elementalists are further nerfed.

It’s already been said: Don’t completely kill the treb. Wait a few seconds, roughly around 50 to 60 seconds after portal has been dropped, then go back and destroy treb. Portaling the repair kit means not portaling people to far/mid/whatever.
Its far more important to simply make a timed push on the trebber when your teammates start to pressure mid.

If you know you can kill the mesmer, run at the enemy treb as soon as they get the repair kit. Seems like the only hing you can do.
Even if you don’t immediately destroy the treb, you will prevent the enemy from using it. Hopefully.

Other than that, committing to that fight for too long might actually put you into a 2v1 because a freshly respawned enemy decided to help his trebber.

Which is when you back off, or completely bail if the other player that showed up sticks around. That one additional player at treb means they have one less on a node.

Why would a mesmer drop portal before the treb is down?
If I leave the treb at 1 hit, someone will just treb with it and when it gets taken down, that’s when the mesmer portals.
Mesmers typically pop enter portal when they see they are about to lose a fight at treb. They then run off hoping the person will destroy treb. Once repair kit spawns, they make a mad dash, place exit portal, and portal back to repair. Thieves will place shadow trap on the wood paneling (a place most people don’t tred while killing treb) when they see the same thing happening. To do your best to prevent this, don’t kill the treb completely. Once your team starts to put pressure on mid again, make a timed push onto the trebber (mesmer or not). The push on treb is what really matters, not the downed treb – just don’t die.
