Possible new hack/cheat
Sounds like a hardware issue. Check the keyboard and the USB port.
If it doesn’t seem like either, see if it persists with a different keyboard or another port.
….that’s some serious hacks man.
ILLERMINUTTY CONFIRMED
Funny you mention that. I’ve had similar experiences and it always seems to happen against random shady 5 man premades that I’ve never seen before. I also notice that DCs will happen against these same kind of shady premades and I’m talking players on my team that I’ve gamed with for a very long time now, will suddenly DC. These are people who usually never ever have lag or DC issues. Always happens when we are ahead in points.
Hey, it could just be bad luck..
But if something looks like garbage, smells like garbage, usually that means it’s garbage.

I have this issue on a laptop frequently. In my case, it’s caused by getting excited and pressing too kittento the lap top casing. Not sure of the nuts and bolts but it seems to move the cursor momentarily off gw2. The controls then fail to respond.
give us solo queue pls. premades are hackers

About 1 out of 10 matches I see at least 1 person running obvious hack mods and I don’t mean bots or macros, I mean flat out tampering with client-side files and nothing kittenes me off more than people acting like it isn’t a problem in Guild Wars 2.
I assume the reason why half the community likes to act like it isn’t real, is because many of them are running some dodge bot or small mod themselves. Usually it’s the people who try and viciously defend the idea that hacking doesn’t exist in Guild Wars 2 and anyone who brings up the topic is a fool, who are using 3rd party mods themselves.
Go run a simple GOOGLE search on it, educate yourself and learn how to identify/report it. Still don’t believe me after GOOGLE search? GO youtube it. Plenty of players have been caught in recordings while running hacks.

I notice the main problem with PvP that no one seems to want to notice: PvPers are the main ones contributing to the gold selling sites. Not all, of course, but enough to keep those lovely people in business. With the new dollar values on PvP, not only will you see more exploits and cheats, you will see much more gold spamming as well. Hooray for taking a game and making it a career—not.
someone posted a thread today w/ a video of an engineer hopping up up up thru the air. he didn’t comment to explain if it was him/friend/enemy or even how he found the video. crazy hax tho
edit. jus looked at the user who posted, so i guess it was a video of himself. weird

Idk what a hack would even look like in this game. Can’t have aimbot or wallhacks, since you can do that legally. What hacks?

Well, I can honestly say I’ve never seen ANYONE do that, but that is some craaaaaaaaazy kitten. Hope it stays in hotjoin until they fix it.

I’m sure you’re right. It just seemed strange that it only happened to me in sPvP.
Maybe I panicked, hit too many keys at once and overloaded the thing.

True, people used similar hacks all the time in PlanetSide 2. Maybe this new cheating technology has made its way into this game too.

Cue MLG meme Illuminati montage video:
I thought i was going mad today, or atleast my pc was dying, had this 3 times, twice where my wasd would not respond, mid battle, and another where my character was running around horizontally.
“Speed hacks” have been around for a very very long time. Does noone remember when fly hacks were so commonly used in WvW with the Orb mechanics? Speed and Fly hacks still exist, existed for a while, they are just seldom seen.
But they aren’t really being detected…this new hardware disable thing though? not sure if its them or you tbh.
EDIT: Found a video I had from 2013 that had a ranger that was speed hacking (looks like lag, but a bit too “quick”)

This thread is absurd. In order for someone to shut down your keyboard they would need to have admin rights to your computer. Or in other words they would have to remotely break through your computer’s security (without setting off anything that would alert you that your security is compromised) and then write themselves a admin account.
And that’s the least of the hurtles. To even be able to target your computer for such a attack they would have to be able to find it. Which would be quite a feat considering that individual game clients don’t communicate to each other at all, but rather they only connect to the ArenaNet’s game servers.
So in order to get at your computer they would first have to hack into ArenaNet’s servers, rummage around in the servers (which is a challenge in itself because having access to data is not the same as being able to read it.) until they find the connection to your PC, and only then could they begin the process of breaking into your PC.
Oh, and they would need to do all of that in the ~1 minute before the match starts.
The worst “hack” I have ever seen done in gaming was a year ago in SW:TOR, where a pair of players lauched DDoS attacks against a couple other players. However they where extremely limited in that they could only launch attacks on players who had visited their Mumble Voip channel. (most Voip programs allow server/channel admins to view user IP addresses, the reasoning being so that admins can IP ban users if needed.)

I can confirm having the WSAD freeze. However it’s not PvP, it’s the game in general. I’ve had it occur everywhere from the Silverwastes, to Lion’s Arch, and even while doing the level 1 intro story quest.
My guess is there is some input pattern that is causing a hiccup, and it takes several seconds for the client (or server depending on how movement is handled) to sort itself out.

This is exactly what happened to me too…

Ok, so maybe it is a bug instead of a hack. If we could get a moderator to confirm, or maybe move this topic to the bug report forum?
How can a group of players look shady? All play Sylvari?
We are not friends.
It is very easy to spike someone’s keyboard functions because this stuff isn’t happening the way you think it is. It’s possible there is a mod that changes a file that causes some form of an immobilization that isn’t actually an immobilization. This would appear as if WASD wasn’t working but it is in reality some strange mod that is making the server think you are immob’d. I also notice when it happens, I can’t move unless I use a movement skill. That seems to be routine with whatever bug or mod this is. Hey I could be wrong, it may just be a bug after all.
This is how the original DPS hacks worked though: They weren’t actually hacking numeric, they were making the server think that for every swing you did, you were hitting twice for one swing. So the DPS wasn’t really hacked, it was just making the server think you were hitting twice as often as possible.
To understand the type of kitten mods that get rolled out for this game or any game, you have to understand what is handled client-side on your computer and what is handled server-side by the company. Client-side files are very easy to hack and mod on any game and they find clever ways to do things like “DPS hack” without actually DPS hacking.
Hey… I’ve talked with some of the people who have been stupid enough to download 3rd party mods. They either get reported quickly or keylogged usually. This is why you never see a cheater’s name twice. Be thankful for it.

Funny part is, i get a lot of whispers like “nice hack/cheat”, etc. I never used any macros (despite one that has a mouseclick repeating to open large stacks of stuff) and dont use any plugins (despite the ts overlay to see who is speaking) or even cheats. I dont see a lot of cheaters (altough there was this funny ranger with 50k autoattacks), i’ve seen some, but very rarly.
There are a lot of people in this game who are paranoid. There are only very few hackers. If you get hit in stelath you choose an obvious way, etc. Dont blame all the others.
About original topic, i came to this bug before and it gets broken by movement skills. Every time it accured to me (maybe 5 times) there was an nec, thats all i know. I cant see what causes this bug, nothing seems to be specific about it. Repluggin keyboard also works.
The only strange thing I have seen more often recently is downed players whose life bar is depleting (so no stealth rezz) suddenly springing back to live at full health.
Has anyone witnessed this? Seems to happen a lot in the last weeks.

The freeze bug is very well known, used to happen all the time in WvW but its pretty rare now. Do an emote (ie /dance) and you can move again.
No, its another one.dance doesnt work.
Wvw bug occured when objects changed around you, if i remember correctly, which doesnt happen alot in pvp
Yeah it’s a bug, had it happen in WvW a lot, usually after a movement skill is used you just stop moving. You try to move and it doesn’t work for a sec then works.
Try using rocket boots on uneven terrain, it’s the premier example of this bug.
Not to say there aren’t people that use exploits but it’s not that common. Was a well known thief in T9 who used to call everyone a hacker, was hilarious all the rage whispers.
