So I decided to make a power build in spvp today. It was a disaster trying to gear it. I thought the normal pve/wvw game had gearing issues…

The stat combos aren’t even the same as pve and you can’t get toughness and power without giving up a ton of precision for healing or vitality for some reason. It’s literally the direct opposite of PvE where Condition builds have the biggest issues gearing.

What is up with the gearing in every aspect of the game?

You need to make a decision in stat tradeoff. You can’t have your pie and eat it.

Seriously though, that doesn’t make sense because condition builds don’t even have to think about it. It’s so unorganized. And the stats I want are available in pve anyway!

I know what is throwing you off, its the lack of armor stats. Im sorry, but pve is different than pvp :/. Arenanet wants pvp to be as balanced as possible so they made pvp armor have no stats and have it be in the runes/jewels/traits.

Nope! I’m talking about the stat combos you can get from the amulet/jewel!

This could be part of the reason why balanced builds are currently underperforming. I think it’s a fun challenge to have to put my equipment together like a weird, dysfunctional puzzle. However, given the dominance of full glass and full tank builds, maybe Anet should free up those middle options a bit. That would be a lot simpler than trying to nerf everything that’s over-performing.

Just curious, OP, what class are you playing? Depending on your class, there are some ways to work around stat deficits if you use the right trait and gear combinations, so knowing what you’re trying to build would be useful for the discussion.

Yeah I dont fully understand the reason behind pvp amulets/gem not all matching up with the pve sets

Alot of them are the same Carrion Rabid zerkers Valk etc…

The one that really bugs me is Knights, in PvE Knights gear is outstanding balanced option for a power build Power + Crit + toughness in PvP its Power + Crit + Vit much much worst with all the crazy direct damage burst. So that leaves you with zerkers glass cannon or zero crit soldiers (sure you can use knights but I find vits near useless) Depending on class perhaps vit knights is better… I would just like it to match pve gear and have toughness.

Certain combinations are locked because they would be game breaking and unbalanced.

Imagine an amulet with Vitality, Healing, Toughness. It would just mess up the balance of things.
