Hey everybody. I’m an avid mesmer player for 3 years and power mes is everything to me. However, its simply too hard to actually make it work in PvP. Is anyone out there trying power mes and succeeding? Condi mes bores the kitten out of me but its seemingly the only thing that works.

I was able to make legend as power mes, but in no way was it easy with fighting reapers, scrappers, and condi mesmers all day.

Its not great, but ive found the most viable build to be dom chaos chrono with gs sword torch, marauder and scholar runes. Pu gives decent sustain and the burst potential isnt completely terrible

Not sure how good a power based pu build is these days, but this is similar to what my buddy used to run a few years back.

Video is him from 2 years ago, though some traits got moved and what not.

I use it in WvW running Chaos, insp and dueling. I find it’s not as faceroll as scrappers, DH, druid, rev, condi reaper or celementalist but as part of a small group co-ordinating your burst it still works.

You can probably ditch chaos for domination in PvP though as you have much more stuff to LoS behind so PU doesn’t feel as required. You do want inspiration though, too much sustain and condi’s flying around to not have some counter and some sustain.

Edit: Unless you’re Helseth, Mischa, Frostball or some other stupid good mesmer that can run with no condi cleanse and 100-0 a player.

Power mesmer “works”, by the skin of its teeth – but you’ll be in for a hard time vs all the HoT elite meta specs.

You could try an x/Insp/Chrono Sword/Shield + Staff with marauder amulet – it lacks the ranged pressure and burst of greatsword, but it’s more survivable in team fights.

i have great success with it. i run with base mesmer still. I am still running my good ol mantras. Dueling/Dom/Inspiration. Positioning is always key like always
