You want to feel good? You want to show the others who has the biggest kitten in the team. No problem. With this spvp guide you show them who is the pro.

1. Objective based play
The most important thing is: forget about it. To be really l33t you need to ignore the silly notion of “winning”. After all you are the real winner when you got the most points. Arena Net shares this notion, after all they named these points “Glory Points” for a reason. So, let the suckers bask in the –glorious- 300+ points of your no. 1 top spot on the end table.

The following points will explain to you what gets you from sucker to top dog:

a. Defending
…is a real no-go because you will only be outnumbered and killed. You may be good and get one in down state but then you will get no glory points. And remember: it is all about glory.

b. Reporting when a node gets under attack
Sounds like a good idea. Wait! Didn’t you listen at all?! It is about glory kitten Therefore let them have the node. They will move soon away anyway if they have learned their lesson and then you can capture it and get 20 points without a fight!!! So, avoid fighting (except see no. 3). Now, that’s glorious!

2. Teamplay
Well, of course. Team members are useful to take bullets which are meant for you. And when the suckers are at the ground you can even revive them for extra points…be sure, though, that you killed anyone nearby so that you gain max glory.

3. 1 vs 1
Oh come on! Why do you even ask? Run away and get your guys. Beating up a lone guy with your pack mates is much more rewarding while you roam from empty node to node. Losing nodes is even good. You can get them back and get points for losing them. G-l-o-r-i-o-u-s!

What do you mean “and if he defends a node”? Pff..who cares? You want to max glory and top the charts. Therefore run off because it may give you a long break and walk from the graveyard to the front.

Now soldier, go to the front and laugh in your enemies’ faces and show them who the real winner is when they have 200 glory points while you “lose” and have 300+.

Sidenote: Ever heard of “sarcasm”?

You forgot to add “make sweet sweet love to that trebuchet” and drop hot love into your opponents’ glory hole. Your opponents will lovingly clump up for you too, so keep pumping your massive loads on them until they cant move anymore… then do it again.

Your post uses a sarcastic way of describing what took me rank 10+ to figure out. I still find myself defending the ruins, out of habit, and then I have to remind myself to head to the beach for a quick cap and run.

I play Starcraft2 alot. I watch it a lot. Yes, I love PvP . Before SC2 I played chess online. Totally different type of game but same idea. Me versus that other guy in a balanced battle of wills, skill and experience.

When it is done right it is constantly evolving, easy to follow yet exceptionally hard to master and fun to both watch and of course play. sPvP is none of those things. it is a mindless zerg which the game mechanics encourages. GW2 is a fantastic game but sPvP is by far its weakest aspect.

I hope Mike O’Brien picked the right guy to lead this in John Peters and that he and his team have a lot of improvements upcoming. Not next year but soon. eSports is the buzz word in Gaming at the moment and if its not soon it will be never as other titles like Riot, Valve and Blizzard race ahead.

I also hope they are talking to the likes of DJ Wheat. People that really know what makes a good eSport and moreover know how to engage large number of viewers to watch.
