And still this queue time. IMO stronghold needs to not have its own queue. Splitting the community 4 ways (ranked stronghold, unranked stronghold, ranked conquest, unranked conquest) will kill pvp.

Doesn’t it say to queue Unranked for Stronghold? Every game I’ve queued for, it’s been Unranked and popped under 3 minutes.

odd i had fast qs today; we (pug team) even won vs premade lol
hate to agree with you but the map indeed needs own queue, imo…. reason is, the mechanics are so different you actually need completely different build just for this map….

Own queue is mandatory if you don’t want to have a 3vs4 every games because people don’t like 1 game mode, be mad and leave the match
It’s inevitable and it’s a good thing.
The right way to have short queue is having people
so:
1) popular game mode
2) good rewards and good leadeboards
3) let people to join from other places / rework hotm
4) Marketing – start to advertize this game not only like a pve game but like a pvp game too.

Actually it makes perfect sense. Separate queues do not equal long wait times and wait times are relative. 5 minutes is long to one person but short to another, your preference can’t be the deciding factor for everyone. If a players doesn’t like stronghold, forcing him into it will be EXACTLY like the old skyhammer. Remember how many people would just afk/log out when that map was picked? If queues aren’t separate then those disliking stronghold will make the experience worse for everyone that does enjoy it. And if the queue for stronghold is too long because it’s unpopular then all the more reason NOT to force players into it. Forcing people into a queue so you get a shorter wait while they get unenjoyable play isn’t going to work.
This doesn’t prove anything super important at all.
It’s a beta, so people may not want to play Stronghold at all. In fact of my PvP friends, almost nobody plays Stronghold. So keep in mind that because it’s a Beta (and roughly critized for being PvE, which in my opinion isn’t true) people won’t queue there.
As Wolfey said, queues tend to be buggy. I had a long queue time (10+ minutes) on Conquest when I’m not a high MMR player. Does that means that suddendly, at that time, there was no one playing Conquest?
Moreover, it’s Summer. Can be said both ways, either people play more because it’s summer, or people play less because it’s summer and they go out.
EVEN MORE, just wait for the expansion. It will mean a HUGE increase in playerbase if ANet does it correctly. An increase sufficiently big to make this “split” not important at all. While it’s true that the 4 way split isn’t good for queue times, those are completely different game modes. It’s like merging in League of Legends the 5vs5 Summoner’s Rift vs Dominion. They are simply too different to be put in the same queue.
P.S.: Queueing outside of HotM has nothing to do with queue times. LOL

It’s important because many people simply don’t play because of this problem (and it’s a big issue).
So it affects queue time because there is less people in queue.
In this sense. It’s a general issue.

Well this is why many people play ranked (that and leaderboards are a joke so its just the same queue without the maps)

Queue times can be adjusted by a number of issues and forcing players into a game type they don’t want to play isn’t the right fix. If anything, you’ll frustrate players and lower the overall player base even more.
OP not be rude but who you are trying to convince? the 10 distinct people who regularly visit the forums, OR arena net who has data on the queue timers?

It doesn’t hurt that stronghold is implemented ONLY on unranked, so the poor guy wasted 11 minutes of his life just to make another QQ thread. OP is either extremely clueless, a poor liar or believes he is smarter than everybody on the forums.

If they allow us to preset builds for each individual gameplay mode since what works in Conquest doesnt work in Stronghold, I would be fine with just one queue and Stronghold being voted on when the map comes up in rotation.

The fact you got a long queue shows that the map is not attracting players and, therefore, needs changes.
Heck I even reported as a bug the times I got pulled into stronghold when I specifically picked that I didn’t want it – god those were awful matches hated the map.
Stronghold needs fixes and my number one suggestion is that channeling needs to be interruptable by damage – just like it is in Temple of the Silent Storm.
Weird. I never wait long for a Strongholds match. There seems to be a lot of people playing it.
The proof Stronghold shouldn’t have it’s own queue is that it’s still a prototype map of a gamemode.
Unless they have 4-5 more maps it’s never going to take off, people are just going to get bored. It’s not because it’s not great, it’s just that without variety people get tired quickly unless perhaps if it is a complete eSport; but we’ve just taken 3 steps back in that direction with the last update and class/skill balance changes.
It should be mixed with the other maps until more maps are added.

First of all, Anet has always marketed the stonghold beta as players needing to queue unranked in order to play the new game mode. Why you’re playing ranked stronghold, idk… but this could be the issue you’re having.

Burn really is powerful in this meta…
had no problems with q’s at all….. and the fact it’s new cuts both ways, since the mode still has to be improved a lot and the really competetive players often rather train conquest.
They solved the problem very well IMHO by giving us the option to choose one of the two modes or both, it’s the best way possible, because both modes are so different, that I can’t see an option working out, where you can’t choose at all.
It’s as simple as that: longer queues are a necessary evil and they should come up with other ways to attract more players into PvP other than forcing them to play modes they don’t want.
It’s like saying: Not enough ppl watch womens football, so now they can only watch mens/womens football at random. It doesn’t work.
They could for example give a certain incentive to ppl that queue for both modes at once, just like a small Magic-find- or reward-track-boost. Or they could get rid of other modes that unnecessarily split the community up, like combining ranked/unranked into ranked, while giving the players an option not to let the rating count in the pvp-panel.

I have had Stronghold pop in ranked queue. Yes they say Unranked, but it popped in both for me.

What you said while true, has nothing to do with this topic. The OP in its infinitesimal wisdom attempted to troll by queuing for stronghold in ranked even though stronghold was only available w/o a bug in unranked.
There were Long queue times when the first Stronghold beta came when there were an overwhelmingly alot of players.
I don’t think it’s as much of a popularity issue as much as it’s a coding/server/matchmaking issue. Not to mention there has been a 1hr wait time in Conquest for some players during peek times so there’s obviously bugs going on.
I was actually surprised when I got a Conquest match when I checked the SH box only. But I was even more surprised that I enjoyed the Conquest match. It was actually a good match with equal skill levels of the players. And nobody AFK’d.
Maybe they shouldn’t have separated the queues? Maybe the only reason I’ve hated Conquest in the past is the matchmaking is godawful and I always have been put in a match that I shouldn’t be in because its above my skill level.
Maybe when there are enough people playing you’re able to get good matches with similarly skilled people. And in those cases both Conquest and Stronghold can be fun.
I think this is more of proof that Stronghold needs alot of improvement, nobody wants to play it that doesn’t mean combine queues and force people to play it.
Simply put, Anet was foolish for allowing stronghold to queue in ranked and players were even more foolish for trying to queue ranked Stronghold in the first place.

Must be some NA problem.
My stronghold queue’s popped faster than conquest does.
Last saturday morning around 10:00 I sat in queue for 17minutes (ranked) only conquest, so this picture means nothing
How to fix the long queue issue? Make a popular game mode.
Or allow us to actually play the game while waiting in a queue – like we could for years before the first feature patch. Let us PVE again, and most importantly, let us play hotjoin again while waiting.
