Punished for playing: Leaderboards
Eh no one cares about Leaderboards anyway… if someone says they’re on the top 100 just laugh at them and call them a Noob, most of the time you’ll be spot on.
There’s some people who deserve that spot though, I saw a 200w /100 L guy..
well the issue is the same thing happened in gw1, teams would get to the top then start playing on pug teams. I completely understand why people do it, I mean if you can why not. I guess as someone who actively plays solo queue I want to know the people ahead of me are actually fighting for their position not just sitting there.
also I’d say they should promote playing
The decay needs to be ramped up. I think 15 rated games every two weeks or you are off the leaderboard. That’s a whopping one game per day average. Then if you complete a two week period where you complete 15 games if your rating is high enough you get back on the leaderboard. Something like that.
first: leaderboards should give something so ppl care and wanna be in leaderboards
like reset per month (ranking – not the matchmaking)
and top
1 – Unique Title
1-10 gems +gold + Archievement with 50 archievment pointz( repeatable so can make every month) + maby unique skin
10-100 Archievement with 25 pointz + whatever
100-1000 Archievment with 10 pointz + whatever
and you have to play atleast 10 games per week to get rewards at the end of the month
simple – and it would give playerz something to play for
1000+ nothing

I know an r20 guy in the top 50 with 70% winrate who gets carried because once you get into the top 100, you will be grouped up with top 100 against ones that aren’t even on the leaderboards. He is 1v1ing a bunker guard for 5 mins and such things.
It’s just pure luck.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
I wouldn’t worry about it that much, the leaderboards are mostly for kitten purposes. I’m not that involved in the tPvP scene, so it’s fair to say that I don’t have the same desire to have a top spot in the leaderboards, but at the end of the day it doesn’t amount to anything important.
Now if there was some sort of reward for holding those spots, I think the frustration would be more substantial over this, but that’s not the case. You could be the 99999999999999999th person on the leaderboards, but that doesn’t necessarily imply anything about your ability to win a tournament. Participating in actual tournaments determines that.
This is similar to online leaderboards for fighting games, they’re just for kitten. At least in those you get some kind of title or display picture, here you just get your name on a board that only a small percentage of people will actually even bother to look at.
The only thing they really did as far as leaderboard rewards go was the beta access to the custom arenas.
ladder on soloQ matters tho
you could be a great player, but if you happened to have back luck and drop low on the ladder. It’ll be incredibly hard to carry your way back up since you’ll be getting matched with new players and terrible players in general, most frustrating feeling ever when you see your teammates trying to hardress, helping you cap point and racing you to Chanel buffs, but at least they help rally enemies, that’s always nice of them
Does anyone still care about a leaderboard that’s not even in game but on an external website? In guild wars 1 you could at least see everyone’s rank before the match start, and then on observe mode after. It meant something.
But they should fix matchmaking first anyway. Once you get to top 100 it’s very unlikely you’ll drop, because you’ll always get the highest ranked people who queued in your team and you’ll fight the “newbies”.
There are still people who take pvp in this game seriously? even whine about “ladder”? I thought every smarter guy already realised pvp here is too casual.

I do agree with this. There should be a way to explicitely see/show leaderboard rank in game, whether it’s through a title or a rank shown at the begin of a battle.
I saw many titles such as " Soldier of the arena ", that were used with qualifying points ladder. Maybe something similar could be done..
top 2 is 12-0. 12 games.
you will gravitate to your true rank after 100 games or more.
top 3 (106-44) and top 6 (85-35) is really their true rank.
