I am referring to where the resources are allocated. Last I heard there was like 4 teams ( or 70? people?) for living story content.
It was announced at PAX that the living story team is approximately 70 people. Albeit not all of them are developers. There is separate teams also mentioned that handle specific parts of the game.( Such as merchandise etc) The only mention of spvp I’ve heard is that there is 2 + people associated that aren’t developers.
PvE/Living story=70+ separate unts
PvP= 2. + community manager/lead designer etcIn a recorded pre release interview it was stated PvE and PvP were both developed at the same time and in parallel with each other. If we look at the PvE world and the PvP world..well, yeah…..the difference is huge. For a long time it was stated that gw2 would be ready when it is ready, yet the quiet statement now is that upon release there were aspects that were left unfinished, or unpolished with those objectives to be reviewed once the game had launched.
Pvp being a non money making aspect means that it will never really take number one priority. I can understand this, even if history shows that Pvper’s tend to the players that stick round in a game longer than your casual gamer which gw2 is aimed at. It is one of those, “Go-figure” moments.
Here is another tidbit.
‘For PvP, while there’s nothing super-exciting on the horizon, the crew was happy with the additions made over the past year, including custom arenas and the big tournament that is taking place here at PAX. Looking forward, the team sees that many PvPers are desiring short- and medium-term goals, and the team will be working on giving them ways to achieve just that.
Over on the WvW front it’s much more exciting.’

Different teams.
Calm down.
I’m always amazed people are gullible enough to believe devs when they give the whole ‘different teams so no conflict!’ spiel. The devs have mentioned many times being hindered by the fact that they need people who are shared among all the teams. There may be specific teams for different parts of the game, but they don’t do jack kitten without the people that work on all areas, and guess which area gets most of their focus? And that’s not even taking into account the fact that, while there may be different teams, it doesn’t mean the teams are equal in size or scope.
Maguuma
Well, GW2 cetrainly did blow my mind, alright. Also, it’s definitely the game I play when I want to pvp. Maybe we’ll see a pvp-population increase by 2017.

actions talk louder than words or as benjamin franklin said “well done is better than well said”
one only need to take a look at the time frame from bwe to now and see how bad anet failed.
paid/free epic fail
leaderboard fail
tournaments fail
matchmaking system fail
reward system fail
and this is leaving out balance ,build diversity or game modes and ofc skyhemmer.
so every feature they made so far as failed gg
but hey we have zerg v zerg and i can hit gates and npcs.

Sure they don’t care…pretty much since start…

You forgot skyhammer with istant death mechanincs (Also putting it into soloq rofl)…and everything related to it
Gw series hasn’t been PvP focus since almost immediately after gw1 release. Over time, it got progressively PvE focus because they can monetize it. The way gw2 is setup makes it extremely hard to monetize stuff and if they did, you know the QQ would be out of this world.
PvE (more players = more money, easier to develop with designer tools)>WvW (allows an alternate method for some PvEers for endgame, generates less money)>spvp (generates no money, requires more work, has very little amount of players, players never really happy). Personally, if i was in charge of Arenanet, I would have pulled an old yellow on it.

It’s not that the different teams never share any time or resources—it’s overcoming jealousy. Of course the PvE team is bigger than the PvP or WvW team. We keep asking Anet to make horrible business decisions because we’re jealous of all the updates PvE gets for some reason, and then we’re shocked and offended when Anet doesn’t listen.

A lot of players tend to ignore that critical aspect, games are a business. If I was running Arenanet, I would do the same thing from a business standpoint. PvPers make a very small subset of the gamers that play MMORPG, even in gw1, a game originally designed to be a PvP focus game, eventually became a PvE game because that is where the money is at.
