PvP Arenas!
Just like hot join right now? Well actually there are objectives…but usually a two mindless zergs of nabs end up fighting each other in the middle of nowere just to get skirmish points and get totally unuseful and ridicolous ranks…..it’s hilarious and sad at the same time. Points at the end of the match and not during it, 5 points for skirmish and NO POINTS for loser team (Nothing, zero, only wasted time)…problem solved, nabs would think twice before playing like rambo wannabes giving a crap about teamwork

I agree with all suggestions the OP gave. This is desperately needed.
I dont think it should become a core PVP aspect. Anet has stated they want the game to be an e-sport and are focusing on conquest, but adding these type of modes as a fun less serious alternative would be perfect.
A simple ladder system, that progresses on number of kills, either team based or solo would be enough. No need for tournaments ect. It could also be a great opportunity to gain an insight into class balance from a different perspective.
As long as its left as a fun casual PVP environment and skills arent balanced solely around it it would work fine.
Also a possible location is the arena build into the char city. Its not really used for much at all atm and would be great as a PVP instance. There are also areas above for spectators.
Duel hell yeah! we can’t forget about this.
Chaar City would be a perfect place for the Very first Arena!

WoW-style arena are realy the thing this game needs to get players back, they are fast, don’t require much preparation and are more fun then this objective-capture-on-a-kittening-map-that-isn’t-bigger-then-my-room.
Agreed; my spontaneous suggestions:
- 4v4 small random arenas to teach you the basics; 3 ELO based tiers with increasing rewards and access to armor and weapon skins; a limited (4-5) number of highly polished maps; 10 min rounds; reaching, say, glad lvl 3 unlocks…
- 6v6 medium sized team arenas; 20 min rounds; you get access to instanced practice matches and 2 teams per guild (<Guild Name> 1 & 2); the teams rating is the average of the members’ ratings; another 3 average ELO based tiers of competition with more complex maps with separate glad lvls, lvl 6 unlocks…
- 8v8 guild/team arenas; the elite; this is what we balance for; 30 min matches; complex maps; sick skins, not available but wearable in PvE, rivaling the PvE legendaries up for grabs at the top levels of competition; serious monetary rewards in monthly and yearly tournaments to encourage professional teams to get involved and raise the level.
Oh and – stop wasting effort on WvWvW, let it die.
I’m sure there are flaws in this system, but it would be a definite improvement over what we have now.

without arenas 2v2,3v3 and ranking system the game is not suitable for 90% of the pvp players
