Hi!

I have to submit my idea and see what’s the GW PvP community thinks!

What do you think of a website offering coaching, players interested, with only game money (gold) without having to pay the euro or dollars?

Coaches will be of course players from the top 100 in solo or team Q. They offer price and a coaching program on time. They will explain how to master your class will help you adapt your build and climb the rankings!

This kind of thing is already existing in many games (starcraft, league of legends, dota, world of warcraft, and many other), and I think it would be a good thing to have this for guild wars 2.

What do you think friends?

PS: you can add me ingame: Bonaparte.5160 i’am looking for a webmaster who can create coaches page whit calendar ( who can be edited ).

I think first of all you have to make sure that this website wouldn’t violate some of ANets rules.
Second, I think, nothing prevents atm from finding high ranked players and pay them for coaching you. There just is nothing like a marketplace.

Third, the system would fail, because probably nobody cares about the leaderboards. They don’t reward you with anything.

You have to ask yourself:
“What’s the value of a high rank in the leaderboards?”
And the answer is: none
There’s no prestige tied to it and you also don’t get any kind of better rewards or stuff.

If you have hundreds of gold and want to spend it on PvP, just buy some fancy PvE skins and look more faboulas than all the hardcore day 1 pvp players out there. (Thanks ANet! …)

One second my friend, you’ve never played a real competitive game ?

Like Starcraft or league of legends ? In these games there is nothing to gain either to be in the top players , yet the players fight to climb the ranks of the ladder .

I already had this idea of ??coaching in place, but there 6-7 months ago , there was not " enough " of players. Today there are many more players in pvp , this is a very good thing, and I think we could set up coaching to help players wishing to move ( quickly) .

All this would be based course as a service from the coach, and would be paid by the player at the beginning of the lesson, the game currency (gold) .

I really think that many players would be interested in paying a small amount of money as gold , and have a teacher who would help during a period of time defined as a voice on teamspeak , skype …

So if a gentleman with good knowledge of website could contact me … I have already asked top players ( top 25) and there would be very interested to teach , negotiable price .

Yea, I never played Lol and Co.
But the difference still is that Starcraft and Lol are Esports, while GW2 is…GW2.

I’m not bashing in anyway, but I believe it’s a waste of time really. In my opinion you get better based on how you play, and just that… Playing. Something like some big person is telling you isn’t going to help you anymore than what someone on YouTube or in-game hasn’t already told you. Rank, and leaderboard rank really doesn’t prove much as far as how you are in game. A rank 10 could have more pvp insight than a rank 60. I say this because all you have to do to get ranks is just play, the rank 60 has played more hot joins than that of a rank 10, but that rank 10 may have better tactics than that of a rank 60. Highly unusual, but plausible. Also, for someone who is in the top 100, they may have just scored a good team with an irl friend, so in return they may be teaching something wrong or bad to someone who is paying in game cash to become better.

Another thing I believe strongly in is that you need to practice with a team in a private room and or tpvp in order to get your own tactics to become the best, and not get tactics based on what other people tell you.

This is just my Two cents, if you don’t agree with them… Take it with a grain of salt

If “they” relates to ANet, you must be new to GW2, if you believe everything / anything ANet says.

I’m actually amazed that you managed to motivate players, but have you also found sb who would be willing to pay?
I actually think that the payments would be pretty high, as the player might use their time for doing PvE, instead of coaching.

I have a pretty good team, top 125 and sometimes top 100 depending on how much we yoloq. But I’d gladly pay some gold for strategies top teams have in certain situations where we’re stumped and can’t figure out what to do. We’ve only played tpvp for a month so were still new and we learned very quickly by asking nice folks like Chaplan Acandis and some other guys who I’ve forgotten.

so ya I’m interested in paying for some more sofiaticated tips

It’s not a new idea (I remember in Warcraft 3 over 10 years ago people would give lessons for money, and there was no in-game currency so it was actual cash) but it’s still a good idea.

A team of 5 players could easily come up with 5-10 gold for a 30-60 minute training a few times per week.

It would make the scene more competitive especially for the top teams who don’t have a lot of competition to fight against at their level. By “selling” their knowledge they can help other teams get up on their level, which will result in more competition for them, which will indirectly end up making them better as well.

I can’t imagine a downside to this really as long as there are experienced coaches willing and aspiring teams interested.

I think there are a lot of things in this game people don’t do. Playing as a ranger I see a lot of ranger with just plain kittenty pet control. For example, in a team fight situation if the other team has a DPS that cannot stealth then it is sometimes wise to just leave your pet on that target to pressure them and keep them on the move. In 1 v 1 situations its often wise to bait out dodge rolls or endure pain by queuing up your lightning drake then cancelling it last second. There are other things you can do like reposition your drake with your movement and f3 then f1,f2 so that he will guarantee hit your target unless they dodge or remove themselves from the node. You can also stall your wolf kd by cancelling it with f3 and then follow it with f1 for minimum dps loss, but that way you can have a wold kd ready to go when you need it. I mean, that is just one class. Of course there are things you can do on any class better like count enemy cool down timers, rotate more efficiently, know when to be on what target and when, and when you need to be on the node or not. I think there are things that coaches could bring to this game and point out that a lot of “top” players can simply overlook because of the amount of escape, healing, and/or tanky-ness in this game which allows them to not have to be perfect yet still be largely successful.

IDK, more players with experience, more than a handful of good teams, 1 000 000 USD prize pool. I want that.

But more to the point. I think it’s a nice idea, but this game simply lacks the incentive for players to want to learn the game. All they can win is a legendary weapon, if they wanted that, they surely wouldn’t spend gold on coaching, they would be saving it instead.

However, when Anet introduces team rating and team matchmaking, many players will come back and we can all hope that this game can become an e-sport. This site would then be useful.

EDIT: On second thought, there are actually many new players in pvp after the feature pack, some of which would definitely be willing to pay for coaching. So I guess you should give it a try. But as said before, definitely make sure that this site wouldn’t be breaking any of ANETs rules.

Well in E-Sports generally there is no PvE existing and all sources of Development are put into PvP. While in GW2, the bigger part is PvE/WvW, while A-Net puts nothing into PvP, not at all . . .

Coaching what exactly ? I don’t see how conquest can be complicated. Most new players are using a sub par build, this is where the problem comes from.

rotations can be a bit complicated. once you have a good understanding it seems quite simple, but for a new player it’s not obvious and there is no way to learn except with practice and/or being taught by those with practice.

I really strongly agree with this. Nothing is very hard with pvp at all. I may be saying this just because Ive played in spvp just about since start, but my point is that like this guy said… there really isnt a huge learning curve. It’s more or less something that you just need to learn on your own. I agree that it may be useful to some, but what I REALLY strong disagree with is that only top 100 leaderboard players would be able to do this. Something a “Pro” would say may be useless and unhelpful to someone, yet someone who just plays normally, may be able to explain or get something across easier than that of a “Pro”. The prices of these Non top 100 people may be cheaper, but in the end taking a risk with using these non top 100 people may be a better payout than that of a “Pro” tourney player. Just my two cents.

very sure the team will coach the old players still present in the top 100 let’s say for months and months of activity with many part played, not 1-0, also can not be part of the top with only a very expensive game Zuik because it takes a minimum of 10 game play to be classified.

In short I found a webmaster we will try to put this in place, with the early coach selected by me, but in the long term, other players will be proposed as a coach on prerequisites defined later with our team.

Otherwise return to the charter of GW2, I do not see how offering a “service” against the currency of the game (trading) would be out charter. As long as the two parties agree on the terms of the lesson
