PvP Forum Warrior Redesign
My last thread got moved to Warrior subforum.
The deep, dark abyss of many, many warrior suggestions that will never be read by anet. If only every class had a pocket dev like ranger does.
Also
>Wanting to buff greatsword’s adrenaline skill to become some amazing utility
Quite frankly that’ll just absolutely cement it’s already concrete position as warrior’s indisputably best weapon. What we’d ideally want is to buff everything ELSE to GS level.

Exactly. Moving it there was like deleting the thread.

Yep. It will be hard thou, cause of 100b and 2 movement skills built in (and a snare, like wtf). So I would say other weapons (im looking at you, sword) should have more in the way of reliable snares and utility boons (vigor?).
If you want to buff warriors properly this is what you do:
- lower burst
- more ways to “stick” to the target
- more condition removal
- (more sustain for non DPS builds)
Done.
auto attacks should auto cripple for something like 1 sec to “stick” to the target, as you said, for all melee weapons. A trait for auto condi removal would also help, something like guardians 10 point remove every ten seconds trait
I don’t really player a Warrior so you’ll have to excuse my ignorance but it seems to me that it’s not so much the warrior being terrible but that almost everyone else is far above them. I think that’s where the problem lies and (hopefully) when AoE takes a decent hit, you’ll see more viable Warriors.
A lot of kittentalking about warrior from “pro” players: quickness, condi tion removal, gap closer, root….and noone talks about healing reduction. Traduction: no poison for warriors. Pls correct me if i’m wrong. The warrior is the only 1 class doesn’t have a healing reduction or poison. No weapons no skill…nothing. Whille all other classes have. Some mostly some other less but ALL have.

I never knew 1 hand sword, mace, hammer or long bow had burst o.O. When did this happen???

I share your surprise! Mace and hammer have burst? I knew sword and longbow albeit really weak but mace and hammer?
the real issue i have with warrior is a total lack of survivability.
it just feels like warrior takes damage way too easily and has little to nothing to make up for it. the heal spells are sub-par and hardly appealing.
that said, i still play my warrior for the most part.
scrap the class and start fresh in the morning when the hangover subdues.
As it stands, burst is the only viable option in the metagame partly because Warriors have little potential for sustain or survivability, and this is the profession that needs the ability to stick to a target the most.
This seems like an interesting project. Can you edit the links, because right now it’s saying “Bad Link”?.
Quit to play my 2 favorite competitive fps and moba games ported to my favorite OS.

If only every class had a pocket dev like ranger does.
We got him a week ago, and we would like to keep him. However if you think these changes were good for a ranger you are sadly misinformed. The largest winner of the patch notes were bunkers as a few burst and condi classes were hit hard. Robert Hrouda is a dungeon balance guy, of course he is going to post a bit in the ranger forums about the pets getting agony resistance.
Up until his post this… https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Ranger-update/first was all we had. And you should note that one the things his listed 5 months ago, very little headway has been done other than giving offhand axe more damage untraited (but the same dmg while traited), and buffing maul on greatsword. Build diversity has only “increased” because they have been significantly reducing the effectiveness of few traits that are worth taking.

You have to be fair here, even false hope is better than the bottomless well of despair felt by the overwhelming majority of warriors who pvp.
It’s been a bit less than 24hrs and I wanted to highlight a few trait suggestions I thought were interesting. Slight buffs and not too overpowered:
Short Temper
Each time you are blocked you gain 2 seconds of quickness. -Sami.
Attack of Opportunity
Increase damage to bleeding foes by 15% (This is very good for sword damage and decent for all other weapons but it needs a lil bit something more) -Ottohi
5% of precision is given as a bonus to burst skill damage
Unsuspecting Foe
50% critical-hit chance against disabled foes
Furious Reaction
33% chance to gain vigor (5 sec) on crit hits (10 sec cd) -boro
Blademaster
Increase crit chance with sword by 10%. Sword cooldowns are reduced by 20% -Ottohi
Furious
Deal 1.5% more damage for every condition on you. – IDarko
Thick Skin
-25% Stun & Knockdown duration while health is above 50%
Adrenal Health
(renamed Restorative Strikes) Gain (100 + (0.033 * healing power) health on each successful blow (same healing as healing signet – 100, promotes being an agressive warrior) -Ottohi
When you use a burst skill you heal for x/x/x based on your adrenal lvl. -boro
Turtle’s Defense
Gain protection for 5second when struck by a critical hit (15 second cooldown)
Shield Master
Gain Aegis every 10 seconds for 5 seconds. Shield skills recharge 20% faster (shields block, lets make shield block) -Ottohi
Gain Protection for 4s after using a shield skill (activates at the END of the channel for Shield Stance). Shield skills recharge 20% faster.
Spiked Armor
Gain 5 sec protection and retaliation when struck by a crit. cd 20 sec -boro
Inspiring Banners
And create a 7s fire combo field upon summon.
Quick Breathing
Warhorn skills recharge 20% faster. Warhorn skills remove 2 conditions.- IDarko
Inspiring Battle Standard
Banners grant aegis to allies when summoned and provide regeneration to allies nearby – IDarko
There’s more good stuff, but I think that’s enough for now.
Discussion: The fact that slows cut all of the Warrior’s movement ability ranges by HALF (-50% range decrease!) means that cripples and chills are too hyper effective versus Warriors. Because slows are so easily accessible for every class (practically every weapon has a slow built in), and because Warrior’s movement skills have naturally long recharge times, Warriors should be given more options for cleansing slows. Warriors are still susceptible to being killed by condition damage, but they should not be totally impaired by them.
_______________________________________________
Mobile Strikes: Movement skills cleanse movement impairments (cripples, chills, in addition to immobilizes).
New trait: Spending Adrenaline heals the Warrior for 2.5k HP.
New trait: Spending Adrenaline cleanses 1 condition.
Healing Signet active: Heals the Warrior and cleanses all movement impairments.
New healing skill or elite = Into the Fray: Heals the Warrior and readies them for an epic encounter; heal scales based on the amount of enemies nearby up to a maximum of 5 (the more enemies = more danger = larger heal. Less enemies = less heal).
New Banner Skill = Stow Banner: Carry the banner on the player’s back, enabling the player to use all normal weapon skills while retaining the banner’s passives. Toggle again to gain access to the banner skills.
What I miss here is a trait for dodging. As many other classes have it (mesmer=clone, ele=skill based on attunement, guardian = heal, necro= bloodmark …. etc.)
Sadly I’m not enough creative to bring a good suggestion for this.
they have one, it deals kittenty damage at the end
they have one, it deals kittenty damage at the end
Oh, my mistake. Then make it more viable like removing chill/cripple.
Milo, cant you see that things you chose are cosmetic fixes to balance warri and keep that stupid gameplay which we had since release.
Why don u think about gameplay inprovements?
My thoughts about ranged stomp with ground targeting was awesome and its not overpowered, but it makes warrior gamepay a bit more fun. Just think about HOW IT FEELS LIKE, u can jump+stun in a bunch of enemy and unleash 100b or axe whirl or hammer whirl or whatever with quickness or not… Thats the way how Anet should think when developing something.
hey rommy, I addressed already in the other thread a question like yours. there is no point to suggest mechanic changing features, they are much more likely to get ignored. sure, this will get ignored too, but at least we’re being realistic.
I still think Warrior would be fine if the best classes didn’t have such over the top survivability tools.
Not sure why people are asking for a redesign, i dont find anything wrong with the state of the warrior. Its other classes that need to be brought in line. Like the thief’s burst+mobility+utility.
A good warrior can out play alot of classes and good players, but cant outplay an OK thief.
Thats where the problem is.

Warriors just need survivability tools of their own, especially since they are in-your-face melee with no other sustain mechanisms, besides toughness.
And, in GW2, evasion and mobility > toughness.

Make quick breathing an adept level trait in spvp. This will open up other builds to incorporate condi removal, as well as the combination of condi removing shouts with a bunker build of any kind..

It’s actually not bad. The dodge roll crits for 2k.
Notice how I don’t even need to use Hundred Blades to kill this player in the video.
its cool to have posts like this but thy are never going to take your suggestions… I’m not being negative I’m just being realistic. Unless we get a huge outcry from the warrior community to revamp the warrior on the pvp scene the warrior will only be a pve dungeon/wvw master.
*warriors in pve are good and don’t need that much change but in the competitive pvp scene thy are a unwanted class.

There is a huge outcry from the warrior (pvp) community. It’s entirely up to them what happens with warriors, but hopes aren’t high.
