Similar, a mesmer from my team died to chieftan, I was like “that cant be true, someone from the other team must be there”, no one else was there and chieftan had 80% HP. Sad day for PvP.
The most disturbing thing ? people going afk from start or quitting after the first minute. I had 6 matches today, only 2 matches where 5vs5 and the rest was 4vs5 – 2vs4 – 4vs3 – 4vs4 tha became a 3vs5 after ~2 minutes (don’task me how but it happened).
I know GW2 pvp will never be as good as GW1 but I’m sure it can be improved, a lot
Last match at skyhammer, their team had a bearbow and a guardian with full signet build….lost because of my team went to 3 teamfights nowhere when they had a 2 cap.
Why did a pvp player would vote skyhammer?

You should probably stop getting mad at your team and focus on how you’re playing! Win or lose you should be happy if you played well! At least that was Vee Wee’s mentality! Maybe it’s just Stockholm syndrome because Vee Wee only played solo q in team arenas! And Vee Wee’s win rate is ~60% which is good considering how bad it was back when Vee Wee was new to PvP! One day one of these newbies will be better than you! And then Vee Wee will just say atodaso! I kittenin atodaso! It’s just water under the fridge!

To be optimistic, people who leave will receive dishonor giving them the max points loss. There’s still a chance to hit that 300-400 point margin. Maybe after X amount of games you’ll leave that bad pool of players.
Imo, the odds of winning should change dramatically for teams who are at a disadvantage when that happens. Maybe a team check at end of match; if team A’s players is greater then or less than team B… or something simple like that.

I went from top70 (before update) to 0%. Last match, engi “afk” and ranger at orb spawn giving free 3 caps for them.
If you don’t bash new player right off the bat with swear words for dying to Milfhel npc and actually whisper them asking about queueing couple games together, they will last for longer. And prevent pvp from dying off. Don’t be a jerk.
As for mobs themselves, they can hit exceptionally high compared to regular PvE world creatures and some newbies aren’t just ready.
Instead of yelling at the nether, offer them skype call and show what pvp is about.
Two weeks ago I did similar thing and poked a turret engineer in soloq, offering couple games and skype call because he seemed lost. You know what? Pretty cool guy, but he just started pvp (and game in general) two days ago. Since he was a newbie, he got yelled in pvp, not quite playing meta builds. So, for the sake of being any useful, he forced himself to AI build.
After about hour of my time playing and explaining, he got the basics and I know that now he’s pvping regularly, testing a lot of builds and being quite succesful and having a lot of fun.
