PvP Reward Chest Unusable?
To be fair, Anet announced for a good while that things were changing in PvP and to use up what you had before the changes fully took place.
However, mitigating circumstances being what they are (in your case, being unable to log in for such a long time) puts you in a rather unfortunate position.
You could try taking the situation up with Support, but I’m not too sure there is much they can do about it.

They did announce that you must use your chests before the patch. It might be prudent to keep up with the forums and announcements, if possible, even if you can not log into the game and play…in the future.
Doubtful they will be replaced, but if you do decide to contact CS, be aware there is some waiting time, as CS is rather backlogged at the present time.
