Grouch can you give a vague idea of who will be future dragons (60, 70+)??!?
ALSO with the change to jewels, will I still be able to run soldier zerker, or carrior rabid or whatever?Everyone in the upper mid 50’s and up will become a Dragon!
retroactively points ??? Or is going to be easier to reach the rank 80 if you are allrdy half way ?
So what about the balance changes? Are they just the ones you showed on the first Ready UP?
So basicly the ppl who will be in the best spot after this patch will be those who mostly played PvE?
As they will have the most amount of gold and gems and those are the only things you now need to get anything in PvP.
Great!
Hype!!!!
So the changes to PvP:
-Instead of getting full acces to traits, skills and amuletts etc. you now will have to pay for them in PvP.
-Instead of “Style” being tied to you progression in the rank sysem, you now can simply buy everything or use you PvE gear
-Everything achieved via PvP in the past e.g already unlocked skins, glory boosts, crafting mats will become worthless.
Awesome!
But at least they are fixing the meta with proper Balancing. Oh, wait…
Oh, I also forgot, how much I appreciate it, that we now have to play dungeons (story) and the Living story for getting proper acces to dungeon armors.

Is the ability to earn dungeon tokens via reward lines just a hook to grab WvWvW players in to PvP? Kinda feels that way, I think a lot of WvWvW players would much prefer to avoid the “zerk warrior only” LFG crap on their way to legendary by doing it in PvP. On the other hand, I also think most WvWvW players will just be upset they don’t have the same option in WvWvW.
Broadly speaking though looks like a nice update.
these changes are great. finally Vee Wee won’t be the only rank 80 in the world. question though, what will Vee Wee get for being the first rank 80? seems like everybody else got rank 80 for free while Vee Wee really earned it.
The blog says that we should craft all our PvP crafting components into items.
How do we do this now that glory has been removed and the final components can’t be purchased anymore? Is there some temporary way to obtain item tokens so I can finish crafting my leftover materials?
Please answer this as well. I can’t imagine the hundreds of thousands of PvP mats that will just wash away because people have no means to use them because they don’t have the gear or consumable tokens.
Please Answer this, I have 6k powder, 1k orb, 500 silver and 1k more token but 0 Glory because You told us to open all the chest and I used them all to buy salvage kit.
And then you tell me now you can use copper to buy salvage kit, but its too late, we dont have any glory left to buy consumable tokens.
At least let us buy consumable tokens for with gold so we can get some dye from that pile of junk. So I feel better for supporting tpvp the past year.

How exactly would that be? If you are a PvP only player then these changes except for the charges to change armor wont affect you. To unlock more stuff you already get gold. These changes means more players Playing PvP which gives Anet an incentive to actually dedicate more resources to it.
This changes only negatively impacts PvP only players that decided at this very moment to suddenly start doing PvE and this amounts to it being your own kitten fault since nobody was physically stopping you from PvEing.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

The only way you’ll unlock new gear is if you stop PvP’ing and go play PvE. The rank will have no attachment to gear unlocks in this change…
I’ll have Evan Lesh (PvP Programmer) and Hugh Norfolk (PvP Designer) on Ready Up today, so we’ll try to get some of these questions/concerns answered Q&A style.
Are you going to/can you give us some examples of the reward tracks? What exactly is need to finish one? You gave us no examples of what’ll be needed to be done to finish them. Especially the dungeon/living story ones, how do they correlate to PvP? Thanks.
Also, so I should open all the pvp item chest things I got with each Achievement chest (every 500 ish AP)? I’ve got probably 50 of them, and haven’t opened them since I don’t PvP.
Please give us a keyring…

Besides, they could have implemented the wardrobe in a different way. For example, using transmutation charges to unlock skins in the wardrobe to use them freely. They could up the cost for this as well.
That would have been the perfect solution for both PVE and PVP.

So Dragon will be worthless? Currently already tons of people are 50+. I sure hope this means there will be new ranks after dragon…

Not sure if serious or sarcastic…If serious, it’s badly shafting currently very high ranked players. If real, I’m 51 and will be within striking distance of dragon. But I feel sad for those guys who’re right now 70+. They ground out all those tourneys to distinguish themselves. And now they’re just gonna be dragon like everyone else?
Why not have unlimited ranks instead of stopping at 80 then? Just keep going and going.
Really, really hope that this was a sarcastic quote.
They are PvEing PvP. When all your hardcore PvP players want is nerfs to things like warrior/thief and what you give us is more screen clutter from PvEers and their obnoxious legandaries.
Also they dumb down any skill and build crafting again. Players ask for more ways to make builds with MORE jewls and less stats loaded on the amulet. Anet dumb it down by getting rid of jewels which was the only way to make any sort of experimentation in this game.

If PvP wasn’t dead enough they go and do this…
- require full rune set
- no more mixing of amulets and jewels
- require gold and skillpoints for new traits, amulets, etc.
- require transmute charges to change your look in PvP
lmnoPZ I’m outta here

what the hell… what was the point in doing pve before this changes if your focus was spvp? the gold was worthless plus the skins were only unlockable by pvp….
And now all the pretty boy duncans of pve will come like heroes with their legendarys and getting stomped (or playing OP classes and roflestomp the rest)

It was my understanding that there are still rank chest, or no. At anyrate though, pvp is definetlly more rewarding after this than ever. Im firing up the time machine to take me to the 15th as i type.

During a live stream a dev was rank 205.
My burning question: what should I do with all the spare pvp items I have been hoarding in my inventory? Will they just disappear after the patch or what?
Also would like to know for sure that the stuff my characters are wearing in pvp now will still be preserved when the patch lands.
Things that make me a bit sad:
the loss of mixing and matching jewels/amulets.
Not being able to wear different looking gear in pve and pvp
Having to pay for something that used to be free (swapping armour)
Will transmutation charges be available for gold or gems only? Or can we earn them by playing?
So I am confused. What is the point of these new PvP rewards?
What is the point of tying all the game modes together?
What is the point?
So sPvP is pay to win now. Hopefully this will work so are important for ANet and get patches sooner.
In what way is it pay to win?
Can you somehow buy skills that are not available to other players with real money?

I have a question: Will the pvp rank point title tracks be adjusted, too? 15m rank points for the highest title seems absurd.
You guys are looking at it wrong. Dragon is no longer nearly as prestigious, it should be viewed as level 80 in PvE. It simply shows max rank, or at least that is what ANet is trying to do. Imo this is alright, but you have to do something so that r60/70 players now get something for their dedication. Currently a player like Oeggs who has 1000000 hours in this game and is r70 will have what? Skins that any Pver could achieve in a few hundred hours, and thats about it!>? What will an experienced Pver have now?! More skins than PvPers, Legendaries already, the only thing they wont have is the skill that good PvPers have. I agree that making ranks more attainable is a very good idea, but that being said, something must be done for the current rank 70s, otherwise, I myself who is close to mid 50s will be the same rank and have everything that marvin or chaith will have. This is crazy. I like the idea of Infinite ranks so that the prestige is shown, or rewards such as legendaries for r60s and 70s….. rewards for leaderboards would also be chill cuz ya kno im like up der

A new player can still go to pvp. He is not able to get the same traits or amu, runes and sigils. He can go back to pve or for his credit card. Works in world of tanks or lol very well

What is the point of doing anything? Nobody stopped you from doing PvE or vice versa. Essentially, you are getting mad that the teacher did not force you to do your homework and now you are behind the other kids that did.
Since when did legendaries actually mean a thing? Except for the annoying particle effects, a noob with a legendary is still just that, a noob with a legendary.

Pls Devs, answer this:
1. With this patch, you made the work I have done in PVP worthless, because PvE-oriented people will look cooler or as cool as I only through their PvE-Progess. And looks was everything in PVP until now.
2. It will cost me gold or money to change my look in PVP? WHY ist that? Only so you get another Goldsink?
If I play hambow, I want to look cool with my nightmare armor, and if I play sword shield I want to wear my T3 human set. So everytime I change my specc, it will be either use 6 trans-charges or stay my former look?
That’s bullcrap. And people swinging their legendaries in PVP is kitten too.
3. I will lose all my PVPmats? Are you kidding me? at least convert em to gold or give me the ability to buy tokens etc before the patch, so I wont lose all the stacks of my mats, since I havent got enough tokens to craft things.

So I am confused. What is the point of these new PvP rewards?

Money, what else xD
So now we have to pay to change our PvP skins. Great feature.
If sPvPers want to be focused on, then they have to be willing to become a serious source of revenue beyond custom arenas. Arenanet is not a charity.
Doesn’t mean every single thing has to be monetized. There’s also cash shop armors and weapons that can be bought with gems.
Besides, they could have implemented the wardrobe in a different way. For example, using transmutation charges to unlock skins in the wardrobe to use them freely. They could up the cost for this as well. And this is just an example.
Also, horrible reasoning you’re using there. As if customers that paid for the game and mainly PvP even though they spend money in the gem store, have to somehow pay extra to get updates.
That’s how it works when a company’s main revenue is microtransactions unfortunately. I saw a great video that explained it well. If it was a sub based system (which this is dying out and failing) or an expansion based revenue model things might be different.
Anyways, I think these changes look absolutely amazing. I am so excited for the new rewards system. This system really does give sPvP a great incentive to play and work towards things. I think that merging the other modes together with sPvP added with this reward system is an excellent change and I just wish April 15th was a lot closer than it is now as it just seems so far away still. This also looks like there was a reward system overhaul on the PvE side as well seeing that dungeons were mentioned and I’m really looking forward to that as well and maybe this game can get a little bit away from gold being the solution for everything.
So I am confused. What is the point of these new PvP rewards?
What is the point of tying all the game modes together?
What is the point?

Actually NO.
The whole point of these changes is to make PvP more connected to PvE, but more importantly it is to make PvP have a decent amount of rewards when it gets release in the biggest MMO market, China.

The way I read this, if you want access to an actual level playing field, you’ve got to pony up some gold. That doesn’t sound….good.

For people who don’t play sPvP that much, these changes most likely look amazing.
However, what sort of gratification does this offer to hardcore sPvP players? If you’re rank 60, you pretty much have all the skins that you could ever want and the only real thing to work towards is your next rank, which ANet is about to slingshot them to.
It seems to me like this is a more tantalizing offer to get PvE players into sPvP.
It’s a good structure restyle, but we need more stuff to incentivate soloqueue and teamqueue.
- new game mode (TDM little/medium fights + another big mode “two lords on sides and do something in the middle” )
- seasons and unique rewards
and a really better balance
Will Rank Up Rewards be changing in the April 15th Feature Build?
Is everyone that is going to be gaining Ranks retroactively going to get each and every Rank Up Reward Chest commensurate with their new Rank?
What is the new Rank ceiling?

The sad thing is that ANet has access to massive amounts of data and metrics that we will never see and that data, based off of our actions and playstyles, has led them to this course of action.
So we can only blame ourselves. Shame on us.
Looks like a really nice change so far.
Just one question: Are we going to get another shot at skins from the living story with the new reward system?
Question:
What is being done about the currently extreme scale of the pvp titles such as Reaper and Ravager? Are they being scaled back similarly to rank?
For people complaining about having to pay to switch pvp looks, just buy a cheap set of whites and use the charges you get for your ranks to set up your look one time, and then switch to that set when you pvp. The stats don’t matter so whites are the cheap and easy option.
For people complaining about rank, when has rank ever really mattered? There are a lot of r40/50+ who aren’t that good. The reward tracks seem like the new thing for people who need a carrot on a stick to enjoy pvp. We also have potential ladders to look forward to in the future (maybe?)
If anything, the changes will entice more people to come into pvp. More people in pvp = faster and more balanced queue system with a larger pool of active MMRs to pull from = more interesting games and competition.

What he said.
All this PvP rewards stuff is pretty good, BUT we need leaderboard rewards, or league rewards.
No point in playing competitively without them, you just need to play a lot.
Still no skill-related rewards, and this is not the way to go .

You’re still on an even playing field, just because you have less build OPTIONS doesn’t mean the builds you have access to are inferior. And people have been screaming they want progression in PvP for kittening ever, Personally I was fine with how it was (join with everything) but apparently a lot of people were overwhelmed or something with PvP (which I saw a lot of my friends being that way when they first started).
Essentially what the Runes and Sigils and Amulets are doing is when you start you have access to everything we currently do, but if you want like Runes of the Pirate, or Runes of the Golemancer or Sentinel Amulet etc for a different build, you gotta pay a little gold.

For now, gold income via the champ train is being nerfed for PvE and PvPers are getting access to actual items, if you don’t give a rats kitten about PvE you can just sell that for profit. Due to ascended crafting demanding an absolute kitten ton of all the mats (thus putting every mat in demand) you’ll be able to make a pretty good amount of gold just by selling the stuff you don’t want.
PS: I know the pain of having no gold vs my friends who mainly PvE, I’ve got about 7g, they’ve got like 500-600g.

So how this won’t be the next AFK / win trading system for free loots?
Also at the moment doing normal Q’s you get balanced around every time.
example: if you were the one capping everything and boost the score for your team, because of that people quit on the other side, so you end up auto balanced to the other team and lose the game.
Carrots are great but you need a healthy horse for the ride.
Interesting direction we’re moving in. Though perhaps annoying for PvP purists, I think the changes will probably be most beneficial to the game as a whole and to the general Gw2 population.
But all of these changes won’t matter to the average Gw2 player if the pvp balance is still bad and miserable for them to play in…
Also hoping more pvp goals will be added later on to fill the void of the rank grind disappearing. I understand seasons and season specific rewards were mentioned months ago, I hope that plan is still being worked on.
these changes are great. finally Vee Wee won’t be the only rank 80 in the world. question though, what will Vee Wee get for being the first rank 80? seems like everybody else got rank 80 for free while Vee Wee really earned it.
:)

Seems like another money grab. They should have kept the pvp locker and wardrobe separate so players don’t have to spend cash or gold every time they want to change their look.
THe whole “Anet has to make money somehow” phrase is a huge lie. Anet is small and with the Chinese release just around the corner they shouldn’t have any problem with their piggy banks.
I guess pvp players are just going to have to carry around 100 armor sets in their inventory to escape the transmutation costs.
