That said, work where foul language is a norm. Been at knife point, gun point, shotgun point before that.

Internet, it emboldens peeps. You get statements that people would never dream of making in person. You might consider admining chat just a bit.

people are getting more and more toxic cause A-net simply kittens up, the frustration and tension just keeps increasing more and more each time u play.

I disagree that people are getting more toxic. It’s always the same regardless. The more competitive the scene (or perceived to be) the more toxic people can get, in any game. Which also means (and to address your comment Xanctus) even if arenanet is doing something right, the same crowd spurting putrid letter arrangements will still do so regardless. I do not agree with having arenanet intervene any further. The options we have at our disposal, the filter chat or to block others is more than sufficient.

Meh, I wouldn’t be against banning idiots and people with mental problems that make them shout at strangers.

However, that would mean banning roughly 70% of our PvP playerbase that are anxious about losing their precious pips.

At the end of the day, all we can do is ignore, block, report or burn them with logic.

Had a person afk because we went for a 3 home 2 far start instead of a 4 mid 1 home start before. Later justifying their actions with: “I just climbed a tier, and can’t be demoted so I can afford the loss.” I personally don’t really care as I plan to go to higher tiers where that statement wouldn’t even be valid. But I can definitely see more folks using that sort of reasoning to troll, and how it could get frustrating.

Honestly though this is Guild Wars, not LoL, Dota, or some other game where you have to be stuck in a room with a “toxic” player for 30+ minutes on end. Assuming you do get paired with some short fused fellow. Then at best they’ll get 3-5 minutes of trashtalking in. Even if it’s directly funneled at you. It’s not that bad when the game ends in such a short amount of time.

Not saying this “toxic” behavior is fine. But really that for this game it’s much less experience-ruining.

Unpolite/Toxic chat is one of the main factors which make players avoid pvp. Unfortunatlly, Anet does nothing about those toxic players.
However, in this season, players have been more polite. Maybe I am being luck or in low division yet. Or do they just block the chat to avoid stress during the league?

If anything is toxic in GW2 it isn’t chat, it’s development.

Got all class champ titles. And the game punish me. As i said before: 4 accounts. 2 games each u will see which account Anet target to loose today and then u play the wining one. Which Anet change all the time .That means the loose account can fight all day all night but your win will be less than 5. The daily winning account will have 10wins- maybe 2-3 looses. Imagine one that have one account and try to be Diamond. And today is loosing day. This guy will be very very toxic after 4-5 looses special when near change div. So when u all talk need to see the other point of view . of course they are people that they toxic for no reason and born like this. But think that in league the toxic talk up 200% why? Cause Anet job scks. Manage to break WvW manage to break PvP and the PvE finished the contend and now are bored. HoT broke the balance. Anet wants to advertise the new classes. Made them uber! The Balance is broken and cause of silly Easl not do anything before these finish. If anet continue like this in the end will be with f2p players most of us that support this game got our … kittening balls.
That is why normal people get crazy almost for nothing.

I will counter you on that, I think it actually takes effort to be toxic. Don’t get me wrong, don’t care about profanity, I work in IT, I think I have had 4 F bombs as people have come into my office since lunch. Likewise people using profanity to banter and jest isn’t the issue. There’s a distinct difference between that and toxic chat.

Just wanted to open the thread since I know others that are avoiding PvP currently since the environment is degrading so thought it was worth the shout out. ANet can’t code the players, but if its causing some existing players to avoid the game mode you can image what new players might react. Either way be back out there tonight, good hunting to you all.

Why would you have a 3 home start unless yo knew as a certainty that the other team was going to send at least 3 to your home?

The chat in PvP is a little too toxic. Yes, there is a block function; however, you should not be forced to turn off every chat function in the game to play it.

The Code of Conduct and General Rules for GW2 clearly prohibit any type of threats to a players being.

We are not talking about general smack talk along the lines of “your gay” or “what are you kittened” Generally speaking, the language within PvP results in threatening other players lives and the lives of their loved ones.

The chat within PvP needs to be locked down a bit more, within reason.

What’s ok:
-Smack Talk
-1st-8th grade level of bickering ((lunch room type of bickering))

What’s not ok:
-Telling people to kill them selves
-Threatening to kill people
-Threatening to kill other peoples loved ones
-Threatening to kitten them
-Threatening to kitten their loved ones
-Threatening to kitten their pet ((i’ve actually seen this in map chat))
-Telling people to cut them selves
-Telling people to burn them selves

Don’t use freedom of speech as an excuse to get away with whatever you want, even within countries where freedom of speech exists, there are clear exceptions to the rule. E.g. saying you’re going to murder someone in public, yelling fire in a crowded building, saying there is a bomb in a building. etc.
