I feel your pain, I had a game against four engis yesterday and three of them were turrets. But sadly all of them were solo, so it’s matchmaking what caused it, we didn’t have any engis on our team. I don’t know, I wish they would work on preventing class stacking, too. I also had a game with 3 thieves/necros/eles just yesterday and it’s not really fun.

I’m not stupid right? We were an organized team the second time and still lost. They combine knockdowns for like 10-15 secs at a time. This shouldn’t be allowed right?

Plan was to take outside and let them have mid since they all 5 dropped rockets there and dropped all crates at the start and kept 3 in the middle. didnt help

I can’t think of anything better to try than having your team mob home, then roll to mid, and then to try to hold those points while trying to catch the engi’s coming back in so they can’t set up to assault those points.

I’m not sure conceding mid was the best idea. Maybe just bite the rocket and take the time it takes to clear mid, meh. Not to be mean, but two rangers and they couldn’t barrage the crates? Glad you weren’t one of the rangers.

I can’t think of anything better to try than having your team mob home, then roll to mid, and then to try to hold those points while trying to catch the engi’s coming back in so they can’t set up to assault those points.

If they had 3 turret engis mid good luck with that tbh. The amount of hurt they can put out together by just overcharging their turrets on different targets on top of the auto-attacks, not to mention having three thumpers as strong as warriors with condi immunity and regen just knock everyone trying to get close off point would make pretty much anyone want to just concede that point.

And sure, if you’d know in advance you’re facing a cheese-setup like that you could have built around it by having a ton of ranged AoE cleave, but you don’t and even with it, it still takes you ages to clear the point while their score just keeps on ticking.

gw1 was just like this. they promoted a single trinity group build with monks, control chars (mesmer/ranger/gale eles) and warriors on gvg (spearheaded by the korean guilds who shined with it) and all the viable other builds (fotms like IWAY, ranger/necro/ele spike, RaO way, dervway, etc) nerfed to death until that single build was played over and over again. even the fotms in tombs (vimway, monk spike, hexway etc) were nerfed to death.

promoting a template honor build is bad for the game. lots of nerfs to multitudes of viable builds are lost. we need more fotms. (flavors of the month).

don’t let the gw1 mistake happen in gw2. don’t nerf that garbage and let some theory crafter find counter to that. if it fails, stronghold will be the key.

Yeah, still missing Vimspike days in HA, and Touch Rangers in their power… And that was the thing witch made GW great PvP game. It had an options for team play.

We all know kittens can’t play. They need a kittened build just like their kittened minds. Turret engi to the rescue!

Countless people from highly experienced to complete noobs have asked this cancer to be removed.
It doesn’t matter if it’s an inferior build. It brings the moral down on both sides and it’s a huge pain to deal with.

Knowing how idiotic anet is..I expect they will nerf the whole class because of this abomination they created themselves with their stupid buffs that made no sense.

Edit: I’m tired of having a staff ele with earth’s embrace ready just for such comps. Also despite the fact it says “kitten”, I used another word.

5 turret engis is actually less smart than only running like 3. They have no mobility and once they lose a point, they shouldn’t get it back. Turret engi is not the best at assaulting a point, but better at already being there when you arrive. You have double mesmers in 1 (they destroy turret engies) and rangers in the other. You should have had no problem roflstomping in both these cases. Should have went home & far. Turret engis are not mobile and they would have never gotten the points back. Once you clear them off the point, you start killing them as they re-approach. Worst case is the engi is only half dead before he even steps foot on the point again to start putting down turrets.

You said you were trying to cleave the turrets down? You only need to kill the rocket turret before killing the engi. If you want you can take the rifle one down too and then he is really useless. That will only take 5 seconds and then you can engage him. You shouldn’t be trying to take out the thumper. Just stay out of its range and it won’t knock you down.

Yeah my team fought them too, we won but the first time we faced them it caught us off guard as well. My team was on team speak and we were full premade so it was easier fighting them later.

So we ran power necro/bunker guardian/ these 2 run together for the might stacking the guardian skill. 1 ele and one thief who run together. And 1 hambow warrior, we did a 2-2-1- split. Guaridan and necro went mid, ele and thief went home and warrior (me) went far. The ele and thief fought off point and were able to kill 1 while the other capped but eventually got it. We liched form mid and i won the fight at far. The rest of the match we fought by the gates. This was the 2nd and 3rd time and we did very well but that first time was a bit frustrating. Just got to keep playing threw it.

I faced a team of 5 turret engis (i think one was standard cele rifle kits tho), and we won just out of brute force the team comp IIRC was:

  • shoutbow warr
  • well power necro
  • d/d ele
  • cele engi (kits)
  • shatter mes
    Like i said we won, but it was still one of the most frustrating annoying and infuriating matches ever.

Oh yeah but in the first match they actually had triple cap and we zerged our mid and home since they got comfortable. Now we barely won the first match and even though we fought at the gate and around corners for the forest map they did back cap us a few times. The matches vs turret engys are stressful because our ele ran staff so its difficult to kill quickly and our thief is dps so he actually couldnt fight them on points. We are lucky to have been on team speak and a full premade when this happened.

This actually happens more then you think it would, we have ran into 3 turret engy 1 banner warrior and 1 guardian premades all the time. Especially when the wts starts to happen. When we entered the china one we must of ran into 3 turret engy premades every other game. So we just know how to counter as a team, i couldnt imagine winning with pugs. At that time we only lost to 1 premade and it was 2 turret engys/ 1 kit engy/ and 2 d/d ele and we just couldnt win the 1 vs 1 the d/d eles but we do alot better since they downed might stacking a bit.

This is spot-on. I can’t tell you how many times I have won versus cancer turrets simply because I got to the point before they did. Just yesterday I took a point from one before he managed to get all his turrets up (didn’t have ground-target turrets I guess), by the time he had finished running around to set the point up the way he wanted it, I’d already gotten so much condi into him that he had to bail (I was running cele rifle nades +TK at the time). Once they lose the point they have a really hard time winning it back. You get to the point before them, they can’t take it, and then you push them back and spawn camp them. Just remember their weaknesses: low mobility, poor condi clear, setup time, useless without rocket turret, no roaming utility.
