First, Happy New Year!

I wanted to make it clear that, I started playing since the release, and I just loved it … I have A LOT hours of gameplay, I simply deleted and created several characters just to start the game again and again because I really liked all classes, I always do 100% pvp, and lvl doesn’t matter for SPvP.

So I wanted to back but i wanted to know how important it is to have HoT for SPvP, where I live, costs around $90,00 (Brazil), and i work only in NGOs and I only receive $ 250.00/month in donations (minimum wage here in Brazil).

When I bought GW2 in pre sales, I did not really prepare for future cost and the PvE content is not something I like to do,
For me, I only like PvP, HoT Worth the sacrifice?

If you want to play pvp you have to buy hot, but hot isn’t worth its price. Once in a while they reduce the price 50%, so if you want to buy it I would wait for that. It’s not like it is expensive, but what you get isn’t worth the full price they want for it.

As for pvp it is in horrible state at the moment and really hit new lows over the years (I started playing 3 months after initial release). The best meta build is dh meditrapper who basically stands on his traps dpsing enemies with a bow xD How the kittening kitten such build became meta? I have completely no idea but pvp is swarmed with guardians at the moment.

Apart from that there are plenty of issues haunting pvp, you can read about them on the forums. If pvp is your only point of interest in this game I strongly advise against coming back/buying the expansion.

There are very few classes you can play without HoT to still be competitive in PvP.

It’s doable, you just need to be really, really, really good.

If you wanna play core classes for PvP ranked I suppose OP, you should take a look at forming a duo with someone self to support you

Take a Guard(DH) then spam your trap and block. you will win 70% ppls except other Guard(DH). That’s all.

If you don’t have HoT(Power creep/Buy to Win).

Pls leave this game. This is for own save and don’t hurt other ppls.

Thanks guys, I really do not have the money to pay for something that maybe not be really good as gw2 was to me.

I’ll see if I can get the game on some giveaway, or try to sell some game that I do not play anymore, like wow, to buy without fear.

I disagree with the selected answer on their DH rage. If a child stands in their traps and autos with LB, they will die to a plethora of classes. (To be fair I play DH, scepter/shield+sword+focus with meditations and a trap. Still, everything can be countered if you are a good enough player)
Also pvp is only in a bad state in bronze and low silver. I’ve found higher tiers (gold 3+) to be fairly skilled and very enjoyable still. But to each his own.

I have hot but played a core guardian soloq to platinum rank. To say it can be done. And besides needing some kitten good kiting skills it’s a viable build.
