PvP is only good for reward tracks.
You must also be the player who pushes far when they’re on my team at the beginning of the match causing us to be down 150-50
On a serious note why did you make this thread – pointless
Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

Wahoo! Bye frands!
“I don’t like a game mode, so i’ll make a thread about it on the specific subforum where people are only discussing it, because i will look smart.”
And two dailies and at least one monthly. But nothing else, really.
Still, I have to give kudos to however at ArenaNet came up with the idea of the reward tracks. No, really. You found a way to entice someone like me, who would otherwise not bother with PvP at all to grind through it.
Well…discuss? (shrugs)
Counterpoint: I started in pvp because I wanted a piece of dungeon armor and didn’t wanna deal with the kind of people that run COE.
Pvp (mainly hotjoin) has taken up almost all of my GW2 gametime since, just for the fun of it.
Edit: The reward tracks get people to try, a % fall in love, I’d call that a big success

Basically the same for me, but I started pvp for the champion title. Now I’m getting close to reaper. The reward tracks are super nice in the meantime though, got a good bit of ascended gear, gold and skins.
I disagree with the “only good for reward tracks” idea.
It is also a good place to get free transport to Lion’s Arch.
As for the game mode itself, I occasionally hot join just to get some progress on the track bar.
Aside from the two to three fights here and there with weeks stretching in between, I can’t really get interested in PvP as it is.
Do I hate the mode? No, more like bored by it.
I do applaud ANet’s efforts though to get some loot in for the PvP lover.
This really does benefit those who utilize nearly every part of the game.
Last time i checked playing games is complete waste of time besides for the fact that it is fun. Same goes for pvp, players engage pvp for fun duhhhh. That is what it is good for (as long as it is balanced and has fun enviroment to offer).

1) If you don’t know how to game the system for hotjoin, don’t play it as it is an unbalanced mess with constant 3v5 and 4v5 matches.
2) Queue for team arena instead of solo. There are a few reasons for this:
* No Skyhammer
* You will likely join a group of 3 or 4 others playing together that can give you a strategy to follow. This really is much more useful than trying to Rambo to victory in solo queue or hotjoin
* You may actually find some people you enjoy playing spvp with, add them to your friends list, and then play with them in team arenas. This will lead to more victories and less complete blowout losses which are just demoralizing.

This is the problem. “OMG MAXIMISE POINTS I MUST NOT LOSE!”
The fact that all the stated solutions are ‘game the system’ says about as much as it can.

Wrong.
Also, I made this thread because I felt like it. So there’s a point. For me anyways.
“I don’t like a game mode, so i’ll make a thread about it on the specific subforum where people are only discussing it, because i will look smart.”
Yep. Nothing to do with the fact that it’s discussing PvP specifically, and would get moved to this subforum anyway if I put it elsewhere. Definitely not that. (/sarcasm)

There’s also the problem that you can’t get away from the jerks as easily.
For fun… ? get some friends together and play together..“Shrugs”.

WvW is only good for mindlessly zerging.
PvE is only good for nothing because there’s no skill or effort involved.
I used to run the Academy Gaming tournaments for GW2.
Wrong. WvW is only useful for map completion (because someone decided it’d be a great idea to throw that in), and cheaper ascended trinkets (saving you some laurels).
PvE is the only good mode, since even if you get bored of one thing, there’s usually something else to do that won’t bore you for a while. Except dungeons and Fractals. Only run those for the tokens/skins.
Remember the old games…
When people played PvP for fun and got absolutely no reward for doing it?

No… the point of what I’m saying is: Hotjoin is a freaking unbalanced mess because the system isn’t designed well and therefore, people game the system. If you choose to play hotjoin and don’t want to be frustrated as all hell, learn to game the system until Anet decides one day to actually fix it. I gave other alternatives to the crap-fest that is hotjoin that did not involve gaming the system because the arena system works well for the most part.
